Google Chrome that is
Bloody good innit ? One Hell of a lot faster than I.E.
Are there any downsides that anyone is aware of or have Google simply whipped Bill Gates on this one ? |

Chrome is good, although I still use Firefox because of the extensions (AdBlock Plus, Spell Checker and so on). Also I find the search bar annoying in that it covers the top corner part of the page.
I also use Opera for pr0n browsing as it has a good download manager |

"o0o0o i must try it out then :D
before i can use IE ive got to start it up and let the whole thing crash 3 times before anything decides to load on it "
The main reason I find IE slow is besides the really slow javascript engine is the 300,000 toolbars people continue to install!
Please for the love of god uninstall them, you don't need a google/yahoo/msn/ask/bing/whatever toolbar. IE7+ all have the little search box in the top right!
The main reason for this is just doing standard installs of software, most are pre-loaded with shite. So do a custom install and untick anything that isn't the actual program you want. (Apple quick player for example by default tries to install a search toolbar!)
Also you can do (XP)start-run (Vista/7)start and type "msconfig" and look at the startup tab. This is usually filled with stuff running on startup you don't need. Ditto for services but that is harder for the lay person to understand. Googling for the item will tell you if it is an essential service or not!
cheers. |

Another Chrome user here... can't remember how long it's been since I used IE at home - although I don't have any choice at work about what I use.
The only downside to using Chrome is the way it caches files. It's a piece of piss to find a file that's been downloaded in cache in Firefox or IE, but Chrome seems to do something different with how it manages its cached files. I listen to music on a site called MixRiot.com but it's a pain in the arse to find the file in Chrome, so I tend to use Firefox for that. |

Haha, yes, some people's view of web pages are like they're looking through a letterbox because of all the toolbars they've added taking up the top third of the screen. |

I use a variety of browsers, though Opera remains my absolute favourite, for its incredible speed, customisation abilities, synchronisation between as many different pcs/laptops/mobile phones as you want: thus all your bookmarked favourite sites are shared and I find the support much improved over the rest.
Chrome is OK, better than it was, and this and Firefox are way superior to internet explorer. Most of the features that Opera introduced as the first browser to have them have since been copied by chrome, firefox and IE, such as the 'speed dial' tool, where it shows small tabs of web pages in a grid on screen and you click to go to the site. It's even got 'Turbo mode', which speeds up web page loading on slow connections/reduces bandwidth that's used for sites. Opera can also be used to host web sites from - that's what I call neat, as well as giving an easy way to save money.
As much as I use the rest, including chrome on most days, 99% of the time I use Opera as it's so good. I have friends who use it, and we can stream music and video, swap files, message, share calendars and a ton of other stuff, just from basic browser functionality, without needing other software. It's now the most used web browser on phones too, I think partly due to its bandwidth management tools, ease of use and synchronisation between a user's desktop/laptop etc.
One of the main reasons I dislike chrome is due to google's privacy invasion that is inherent within their terms of service and software. I do not trust them. |

Well, I'm finding my way around it now, and it's looking good. I'd like to see the favorites bar like ie has and it would be nice if Zynga (Farmville) had a game bar that worked with chrome - (I love the free fuel that the game bar gives you lol) but seriously, as someone said earlier, it's all that kind of crap which slows down ie, but after saying that, I only had a couple of things on ie by way of toolbars etc and as an experiment, I took them all off but chrome is still way way faster ....
So far, So good ... touches wood - Sorry Mr Gates ... |

Maybe thats the reason people use different ones because of what they want to do. I dont stream music etc though i do like the idea of saving money so i might have a look at Opera |

Tell me about it, customer says "The web page doesn't fit on my screen, make it do so" I'm like, erm you do understand the web isn't like print, but ok send me a print screen of your browser and we'll try to accommodate it to that vertical resolution.
Hey presto a 1024x768 screen shot with 300 pixel high viewport. *palm forhead* |
