Ring customer service who will gladly charge you £65 for a new one or offer the extended warranty @ £8.50 a month for as long as your with them, alternatively for today only they can do you a new box for just £40.

If none of the above appeals to you, ask to be put through to cancellations (or as they call it, retention of business), tell them the reason why you want to cancel and they'll replace the box free of charge

they took £60 from my bank once by mistake. after i moaned and threatened to leave they gave me my £60..plus another £60..Plus 2 months free..plus 6 months half price. gonna threaten to leave again soon

Well I have two,sky sent me one when I joined then when the engineer came he had one too. I kept stum about that one. So I have a spare one incase mine goes tits up.

yeah the insurance is pointless. If your in your first year the box is under warrenty, outwith that you just threaten to leave. Why anyone would pay for insurance is beyond me!
