Would you stay if fabs charged a fee to be a member? And do you think it would benefit the site?

I didn't mean the gold & silver thing. I mean a fee that has to be paid by everyone. I know we would..

I already choose to pay. I doubt much would change if everyone did.

Depends how much and what I got for the fee.

Lets say £10 a month and you get what you get now.

Why should you get something for free?

Idiots can pay a membership fee too.

You'd still have the idiots, and a lot less other people.

I agree.. It wouldn't cut them all out but it certainly would go someway to helping the matter

Why should you get something for free?"

Free trial. Tried and tested formula by companies.

Free Trial is a good idea, say 7 days free but with limited access

I don't now. My point is that the community for a better word needs new people and as a rule when you don't know about something and it's attractions it's unlikely to pay but wander off elsewhere. The risk then is a shrinking number of paid people.

Again, this is true for many.. paper trails aren't a good thing for people who are looking to cheat and lets face it there are sites out there for people wanting affairs and they aren't cheap at all!!

If you feel that people who choose not to pay simply opt to filter out members who don't pay the gold or silver fee. I like the fact that you can be here, look round and decide if it's for you without having to pay and we wouldn't pay a tenner a month either.

But surely a smaller number of genuine people is better than a large number of just anyone?

Missed out a bit, I mean if you feel that people who choose not to pay account for most fakes and timewasters.

To you and me maybe but as a business model for the site owners that would be risky

Although I'm a site supporter, I wouldn't pay to join - however perverse that must sound.

Other free sites exist and, to be honest, I have had more meets via other sites. Tried a paying site and there was no benefit.

I still like this site though, for all its faults! I expect I'll finally find someone that can meet Friday daytimes....

I have used pay sites in the past and a founder member of another site, so free life membership but is have found fab to be the best.

Timewasters are always mentioned when it comes to an argument for charging but unless you made the fee quite high you will still have your 'timewasters'. If the fee is too high, people will just go elsewhere and not just timewasters.

Surely the idea of a verification is that the likelihood of the person verified is more likely to meet. Unless it's cam only, which I tend to ignore.

For me fab has worked fine as it is. If it doesn't work for you, make it, it is only a tool, you make the decision on who to talk to and meet, not fab.

No, im happy to pay my gold. But if i was going to pay for a site id expect lots and i dont think £10 a month would get me that so id stick with free sites or id go up market. But i get what i want from fabs so that suits me

Nope

For a mandatory payment id expect the site to be brought to the level of functionality a 15 year old could achive in his gcse ICT coursework.

They don't listen to the paying members as it is -

What makes you think it'll improve anything other than their profits?

No I wouldn't pay;

I am a site supporter as I think the owners deserve a bit of help in providing this " voluntary" site.

But making it a pay site would not rid it of idiots; in fact there would be more idiots.

I don't rely on the site for my sexual amusement; almost all of it comes from the "real world", not here,

So no, I would leave .

We've been on a few pay sites, still joined to one as we've got a lifetime membership.

There has always been people complaining of the same things as on here.
