As if the bus drivers would actually advise riders

That would be against their interests, as if people might actually plan or consider other means of transport, and find that they're actually better

I've used the same bus number and route for 10 years that has had the same drivers too... I have never once abused, lied to or other.... Yet I have on many occasions witnessed the rudeness and ignorance they give.

I've been driving buses for 15 years and i'm neither rude or ignorant. But these days I don't drive service buses as I got fed up with all the crap I had to put up with. I've been spat on, sworn at, hit and even had knives pulled on me... Its a thankless task. I still drive buses but not in an environment where the public can get away with treating people like shit....

You are quite right, not everyone is the same and there is good and bad in every part of life. Its never a good idea to generalise about the personalities of people with in a group as there will always be good bad and somewhere inbetween.... To generalise and point the finger in an aggressive manner is to be hostile and in turn be looking for row... i.e yourself

I occasionally get the bus into town, because a day saver is cheaper than parking, and the petrol I burn in traffic, and circling looking for a spot

Last week I got on a bus, showed the driver my ticket, and went to sit down.

Next thing I know, the driver is knocking his Perspex screen, and shouts "oi, back here now".

At this point my back was up, a simple "excuse me mate I didn't see that" would have done but he had to act the hard man, he demanded he see my ticket, at this point I have the whole downstairs of the bus starring at me, once he saw that my ticket was in order, he just said "ok"

So I refused to take my seat and stood next to the cab until I got an apology in front of everyone for talking to me like an idiot.

Although this was an isolated incident, I feel that particular driver could have benefited from some training in how to treat customers

You are quite right, you get arseholes in every walk of life.. That doesn't make every one who does that job and arse though. I spend my live surrounded by pilots and an air crews and some of them a right rude sob's but not all of them and I wouldn't dream of generalising about them... That's my point

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

Bus drivers are just trying to do a job. If they're striking for better pay and conditions I'm right behind them.

I dont mind them strikingif you know then no problem. The only point was i dont understand why they wouldnt communicate about the strikes through flyers on the actual buses.

Why would they? Strikes are MEANT to be disruptive! Otherwise, they have no power.

Why wouldnt they? If they have been communicating it via social media which not everyone uses. The fact the buses arent running is the disruption.

If you have a valid complaint, and one you can verify with the likes of an in car camera, post it ( the complaint ) to the bus company on Facebook. Believe me it gets results.

If it causes no disruption then they have less bargaining power.
