They have to be seen to be concerned about the state of the nation's health. What they may have done is contributed to the demise of some people's health with their recommendations. Low fat spread has been all the rage since god knows when and trans fats have now been deemed to be bad for us. They allow all kinds of shit to be used to prolong the shelf life of foods and our fresh food has had the vitamins farmed out of it. Meat is pumped full of pig protein so it absorbs more water to add weight. Not forgetting antibiotics and pesticides. |

I somewhat agree with the carb thing personally. I was told I had type2 diabetes and advised to follow a diabetic diet to lose weight and get my blood sugar under control which contains a lot of carbs and not a lot of proteins or fats.. I followed it to the letter and lost minimal weight and no change in my diabetes. One day I after reading about someone else's experience, I changed and ate minimal carbs, high protein and some fats. Lo and behold, the weight dropped off ( still some to go) and my blood sugar is normal. So carbs were not helping me at all, although I appriciate that it won't be the same for everyone. |

Probably based on a study carried out by the Dairy Food Council. Don't worry, next week the Institute of Pasta, Potato and Sliced Bread will no doubt publish a report that carbs are good, and sliced bread is actually the best thing since sliced bread!
Meanwhile, take it all with a pinch of (low sodium) salt, and remember that everything is good for you in moderation.

The low fat doctrine is based on bad science and has pretty much been disproved now. Low carb is much better for losing weight and regulating blood sugar. I did low carb when it was known as Atkins and lost ten pounds in two weeks! ![](/icons/s/biggrin.gif) |

Butter and cream are natural fats are body can digest. Since learning this fact I put cream and butter on or in everything. Hasn't really helped with weight loss. But I followed the advice haha. That and the glass of red wine |
