I use Soundcloud and Spotify. I think Spotify premium is worth it if you listen to it enough.

I do use Youtube quite alot but that's mostly to fall in love with pretty girls who sing and play guitar/piano

Spotify has some really good playlists too.

can't you make your own playlists? you'd still have good playlists then.

Only an opinion but I think Spotify is brilliant and for 99p for three months, what is there to even think about?

I've just added a new music add on which is available on the ares repo called the music source.

Absolutely brilliant

Have a good mooch around Spotify, there are already thousands of existing Playlists or you can make your own. It really is intuitive to use and I really can't see how anyone can feel limited in choice - there is just so much there.

Sound quality is not geat on Spotify even with a decent sound system.

Its OK if you want to listen to something you may not necessarily buy.

Ok nerdy folk, what about data costs? Am l being wrongly paranoid about the cost of streaming or downloading music to my mobile phone? Would l need a data package with a monthly limit of 100GB?

For downloading yes, for streaming not so much.

wifi or completely unlimited data would be better probably. i have music on 14 hrs a day, every day.

1 mp3 is something like 4gb for decent quality.

320kbps rate translates to 2.40 MB per minute of audio or 115.2 MB per hour. So if you were to stream music for an entire eight hour work day, you'd burn through nearly 1 GB.

i meant 4 mb for a decent song omg...lol 1 gb would be a massive tune.

Nerdy folk, my thanks but I will stick to the 128 GB of music on my tablet. Though soundcard sounds interesting for the home and wifi.

One thing to be aware of with Apple Music is that it examines your had drive, matches your music to its online library (with varying accuracy), then deletes the versions on your hard drive- even if you've burnt your entire CD collection (as I have, nearly 1000 discs), it's gone unless you have a backup

I just came here to say the same thing! Do a Google search, and you'll find a lot of people who have lost originals of their own compositions even!

you still got that harddrive? you could pull stuff off it by linking it to your computer. the cable to do this is only a few quid off ebay. make sure you get the right SATA.

Thanks, it was years ago and before apple was clued up. I had just connected the wrong hard drive and itunes synched it and as it could not find anything it wiped the content from itunes. Once l connected the hard drive itunes synched to the music folder and restored the music. But ot was a worrying time.
