Is it possible to have ghostly goings on in your house ? Its so strange,but i shut doors like the back and front and when i go back they are open,i went out yesterday ,came back ,and the front door was open,yet i knew i had shut it,and upstairs i can smell strong cigarette smoke,never felt nervous in me house ,but i do now . |

My daughter and my step daughter were convinced the house we lived in was haunted. The things they reported to us. My own daughter even said she'd heard voices and stated the name of my then wife's great grandmother.
My daughter was 10 at the time and had knew nothing of her step mothers background. |

Perhaps you need a couple of guys to come put the willies up you instead.
It's probably nothing, a draught, slight imbalance on the hinges, your mind. I have to check the door every morning when leaving home to see if it's locked, can be for or five trips to the car before I go. |

Its a three storey terraced ,it was the first house to be built here ,and i still have the servants bells in the hallway,its huge and very spooky at the moment  |

Then the smell of smoke will probably be coming from next door. If they're outside, or have a window open, the smell will come in via the many little draughty openings. If they're inside it's normally via gaps where the floor joists go through the wall. As they dried out, the joists shrank, leaving gaps between them and the mortar where smells come through, then up through gaps between the floorboards and the skirting.

It is ,and i love it normally,ive never felt uncomfortable here,My nephew said years ago he saw a young girl in my bedroom and even described her ,ive never seen any one so thought he was chatting rubbish. |

Ive had an old chair in the back bedroom for years ,it belonged to my great grand mother it was an old nursing chair,Ive had builders in and they cleared the room for me,i told them chuck out some stuff but dont touch the chair,well they did they chopped it up which i was devastated about,all this has started since that chair has gone ,stupid i know but that's the truth. |

Ahhh, you misunderstood, I meant they could be smoking in their house and the smell could still come through the wall.
Failing that you could always search previous owners and see if any of them have recently been cremated? |

Try and find a good psychologist or just a good friend to talk about things.

I once went on a ghost walk. Didn't see a ghost but was absolutely fascinated by the people who took it deadly seriously.

A good female friend of mine(not a weirdo or believer in ghosts) felt strange a strange chill whenever she went in one of her bedrooms.
It freaked her out that much that she contacted a local spirit guy who someone recommended to her.
She asked me to be at the house when he turned up as she thought he might be a nutter.
A little old man turned up and I kid you not he went up to the room and about 5 minutes later he came down the stairs with his hands out as if he was holding a child's hands and walked out the front door.
He phoned later to say when he went in the room there were two children who's mum had died in the room sitting in the corner crying so he talked to them and asked them to come with him
I kid you not my friend went into the room and she said all the chilling feelings had gone. |

I watched one of those paranormal type shows and they said that a cigarette smell was a sign of activity or someone trying to identify themselves to you |

I will admit I never believed in the "Paranormal". My oldest sister used to waffle on about her "mischievous ghost" that kept knocking on her door and moving things, making noises and basically being a right royal pain in the arse! I will admit I never believed in the "Paranormal". My oldest sister used to waffle on about her "mischievous ghost" that kept knocking on her door and moving things, making noises and basically being a right royal pain in the arse! I might be disturbed but I believe it mos likely that when we die physically that is our lot.
It's not to say that other influences can't have opened doors etc but the scientific literature on psychic stuff is pretty devoid of evidence I understand.

Apprantly the road I live on late at night you can hear children singing old nursery rhymes outside since living here I've never heard it but according to people that live on the street they have. Plus a pub that is a stones throw from me was built in 1510 and meant to be haunted. |

Its so strange,but i shut doors like the back and front and when i go back they are open,i went out yesterday ,came back ,and the front door was open,yet i knew i had shut it,and upstairs i can smell strong cigarette smoke,never felt nervous in me house ,but i do now .
I watched one of those paranormal type shows and they said that a cigarette smell was a sign of activity or someone trying to identify themselves to you"
It's the ghost of Pat Butcher (Eastenders). The BBC even put up a number after the programme aired on Tuesday so that people who are visited by Pat Butcher's ghost can ring and talk through their emotions. |

I always thought ghosts and goolies were in the mind but I'm beginning to change mine,its awful feeling uneasy,its seems peaceful here at the moment thank goodness,another strange thing is the people over the back had no garden,so i let them have some of mine,and all this has been happening since then. |

Is it more helpful some people sympathising and discussing your situation as if ghosts exist
Or more therapeutic, helpful to suggest the chances of your experiences being due to any supernatural causation would be as close to zero as possible without zero being stated

Don't be so sure Pam. I thought I lived in a house until some said the 'stairs' was just a loft ladder! Turns out I was in a bungalow all the time! And as for the strange chill I felt when I entered the bathroom at a certain time of day was all down to me getting undressed at night .... I was in my pyjama bottoms. I put it all down to feeling as if old age was creeping up on me. It was. But not in the way I thought. It was 102 yr old Mr.Wankston next door all the time trying to put the willies up me. And all without the aid of Viagra too! |

I once had a very strange out of body experience myself, recently. Nothing untoward had happened that evening. Other than a good night out. I came back. Fell asleep. And suddenly felt my self rise out of my physical state. Looked down and could see me lying on the sofa. Face down. Not responding. I swore and shouted to wake myself up. But no reply. It was only the next day when I went downstairs that I realised it couldn't have been real. Or was it? If nothing had happened then why did I find vomit all over the settee cushions?. Where did loose change down the back come from? And why would there be a pungent odour not unlike ammonia also have materialised overnight? The most baffling thing however was the appearance of my tablet computer. It was covered with several sheets of kitchen roll and when it switched it on I could see the screen was obscured by a strange substance which was semi fluid. Well that's what my local vicar described it as I think, when I brought it round his house to explain. And why would someone want to look up Ex - Hamsters anyway? It's true what they say. Rod (our Vicar) works in mysterious ways. And reckons he has seen this sort of thing many times before - but never after beer as weak as Fosters. No idea what he meant. |

Lived in a house on a row of old terraces when I first married and there was some weird shit going on there but it was always good things. Sometimes when we got home from work the kettle would be freshly boiled ready for a cuppa. Too much went on in that house to be explained away.
There was also a house across the street that squatters moved into but they didn't stay and they wouldn't even go back to collect their stuff. A priest came to exorcise whatever was there and every dog in the street was howling like crazy. Strange goings on. |

No .and i feel a twat,my lodger left 5 months ago to travel,it seems he has been back a couple of weeks but was staying at his fathers,he came in to collect a few things,left the doors open,was smoking upstairs,and i hadn't seen him as i wasn't home.I gave him a bollocking ,for scaring me out of my wits and causing me sleepiness nights,and for smoking upstairs .I really do apologise i feel a right idiot but didnt even know he was back,at least i can sleep easy knowing the house isnt haunted....Or is it .. |
