What do you class as a holiday?

Bradley would say a weekend in Wales was a holiday but for me, unless I'm getting on a plane and going somewhere hot with a pool and the sea for 7+ days, it's not a holiday.

What are your requirements for a trip to be called a holiday and can you ever be fully satisfied holidaying in the UK alone?

Surely anything away from the norm is a holiday

To me anything under a week is a short break, 7+ nights is a holiday. And I wouldn't be satisfied only holidaying in the UK. We only recently started going abroad as a family but now aim to visit at least one different country a year

A trip to the supermarket without the kids or going for a wee in peace constitutes a holiday in our house at the minute!

But a weekend in Blackpool is still a holiday for some.

Obviously some holidays are more desirable than others, but they are still holidays, just depends on your budget.

North Bristol

Minimum would be any extended non-weekend time away from work.

It may be a shit week at home in the drizzle, but it's still holiday!

Actually... Is there a difference between being on holiday and being in "a Holiday" ? Naybe holidays are not being at work and A Holiday is putting some effort in and leaving your usual environs?

Ads and I are off to Clacton on Friday for the weekend, it may not be a holiday to some but to us, who can't afford to go abroad or use up holiday from our jobs because of various reasons. I'm packing a case and going somewhere different!!

My son on the other hand keeps going 'your going on a trip, anywhere in this country is a trip!' So I said 'oh thanks all those holidays I saved so hard to take you on, you didn't see them as a holiday?!' I even asked him this morning 'he's one for you, Isle of Wight? Is that a holiday?' Which resulted in him laughing at me 'eeeer yeah, you have to go on a boat and it's a different island!!'

Sadly, even when I'm away for 2 weeks, half way around the world, I'm still required to keep my work phone on...

A holiday for me is when I pack a case and leave my house for at least a week. Even if I'm just going to a different part of the UK

Quite happy holidaying in uk,going to same spot third year running in june n Sept, holiday is being able to do stuff not usually available, relaxing, sport, sightseeing whatevers your pleasure!think the idea that you have to go to far end of world to enjoy yourself shows lack of imagination,or not knowing where little spot I've found is at,which is why I wont mention it,wouldn't be same if it was crowded

Same here!!! If it's also without the kids then it's a luxury holiday!!!

We went camping to Dawlish for 5 years in a row & loved it but am really looking forward to getting on a plane in July for 1st time in 8 years

I'm never fully satisfied by any holiday, because I have to go home again. The better the holiday, the worse the come down after.
