A question to you all.
If someone comes on here asking why they are not getting meets and moaning , what's the 1st thing you do. You look at their profile. You then say well maybe it's your profile. Now is this nit picking or common sense? |

Probably just the nature of some of us here.
Sometimes I will offer an opinion and other times I will just move on.
I do tend to look at most posters profiles if I haven't seen them before.

that couple weren't asking for advice though....they made a statement and asked if anyone else had similar experiences.
folk took it upon themselves to "assist" in advising about their profile
perhaps if folk read the op sometimes, this wouldn't happen...
just saying is all |

If they were "moaning" I would tend to ignore, however if they were genuinely asking for advise I would be inclined to offer my opion and help in any way I could. |

I think it's best just to totally ignore anyone whining about not getting any meets, in the past I used to enquire, "how long have you been trying", the shortest was "half an hour" and the longest was "at least a couple of days now", so then I gave up asking, mwah, hugz, Ruby, xxx |

I think there is a fine line, and some people go over it knowing full well what they are doing...and why Admin don't like it.
Sometimes it is hard to tell what is nit picking and wether a profile critique is asked for by the wording of the first post.

i think if someone starts a thread with "please read my profile and tell me why i'm not getting laid at least .... xxxx times"...it's fair game.
or "what's wrong with my profile"

You see in the thread 'Messers' the OP's didn't ask anyone to critique their profile, they asked if anyone else was experiencing problems in finding decent meets.
Others took that as an excuse to critique their profile....without being asked to. |

We are all different thats what makes this whole scene great we all looking for different things at different times plus you have the added extra of finding out new things that turn you on etc.... a great believer that if you ment to meet someone it will happen no matter the distance how great or hot your profile looks !! |

I think a lot depends on our individual personalities.
Some people just have to have the last word. They have to defend their point of view instead of biting their lip and keeping stumn.
If someone asks for an opinion, it's ok to give it, but far too many times an argument will start, and very often it will be between people who are offering their views, and the OP is just forgotten in the mellee
Can be funny as fuck sometimes |

This reminds me of my unfinished horror screenplay I'm writing which some of the older forum members will have heard before.
Working title: 'Dead Ban'
Basically there is this forum community that chat every day but one by one thay all start getting banned. Some of the forum members start to investigate and discover that each member that gets's banned is murdered in real life!!!!
It's all fictional but the 3 forum member that start investigate the issue are a Sunderland TV, a Sunderland Monkey and a time travelling medieval version of the Monkey. |

Thats what happens when folk don`t read the "smallprint", and join the site with the misconception that they`d actually get a "meet" on here. |

LOL unfortunately my attention span is even worse hence the screenplay remains unfinished.
I might just write the final scene and cut the crap!
I was imagining something like a Scooby Doo ending with a multiple masks being taken off, finally ending up with Soapy shouting 'I would've got away with it if it wasn't for you pesky kids!' |

yeah i think your right ,as an (old timer) on here i think this is just to good an opportunity (for a minority)
to get stuck and play the power up game .
Anyone coming on with those questions are generally new to the site never mind the forums,so the rules about ripping the piss out of an online mate dont apply.
A more "helpful" friendly welcoming style is required so they feel inclusive
or we get the "clique" word coming out (primarily unjustified in my opinion)
The worst one i remember was about 2 and a half years ago when a cd male came on to ask advice, he had only been on the site for 30 minutes and that guy was shredded from everything to the lack of content to his spelling to people taking the piss out of his sexuality ,loads tried to PM him but he had gone saying he had never experienced a more judgemental group of people in his life...thankfully we sort of have moved on since those days and due to the mods i dont think it could happen again .
..it makes you wonder why people behave in a totaly different way on here to how they are in real life,so if someone else comes on asking for advice jujst bite your lip and if you cant say something positive ...say nothing..simples |

yeah i remember when the rules were not as comprehensive and people thought they could say anything to a stranger as long as they put a smiley face after it with the "it was a joke " ploy to try and wriggle out lol.
I remember doing it myself once with madchick on the old pussy posse /daves threads (remember them threads reaching over 5000 posts lol ), now i would never upset anyone in real life ...but the banter got wound up more and more and the stakes raised and as it was under the banner of banter me and a few other members went too far,and she rightly felt got at,it wasnt intentional as i said but its such a fine and difficult line to tread . |

there is actually no answer to why someone doesn't read a profile...you can only make assumptions and reading someones profile will certainly not provide that answer!
we've all been subjected to it...no matter how good or bad we think our profile is

thats true indeed ,maybe an unofficial hands off the "newby poster" self imposed rule should apply in the forum ...til we know them and know they are happy to engage on a friendly banter level ,i mean if someone new walked in the pub for a drink ,you wouldnt stand up and start taking the piss or criticising the way they asked for a pint (unless you were looking for conflict)....i think its called showing respect. |

it's irrelevant if it is interpreted different or not...the fact still exists that if someone asks why people do not read their profile, it is not a direct invite to probe their profile...it is asking you to make an assumption or offer an opinion on that issue
as i said, actually reading their profile cannot and will not answer that question...as it happens to everyone and no matter what your profile looks like, even if it screams READ ME it will not stop someone from sending out mail without reading it

Not at all Fabio....there are ways of responding to a thread and there are ways not to respond to a thread, you and another member chose to handle the OP's point with a degree of tact....while the other person in question tore straight into the Op's profile photo's and criticised them for showing certain types of pics.
It was this other member who ruined the thread by making personal comments which the Op never asked for. |

I dont mind the threads asking about why arnt I getting meets, we were all new to this once. What I dont like is the nastiness that follows. There are certain people who enjoy picking apart someones elses profile. People who do this really need to look closely at themselves rather than the profile they are "critiquing". Sometimes its easy to go off track and the majority of us have done this, but you can tell who the perpetrators are who want the opportunity to be nasty. Being honest tho Id rather a thread go downhill in this way, at least its interesting. |

The profile tells half the story. The messages and pictures they send out the rest. To be nasty like some do about a profile never helps though. |
