just had a person ring up my phone.... just as well i was up... or the call would have had a few expletives in it...
anyway the call went like this.....
me: hello
Them: who is this?
me: shouldn't you be telling me who you are? after all you rang my phone...
Them: oh....(and person hung up)
now.... I wouldn't ever dream of ringing anyone at this time of night!! only with prior arrangement...
I have a only call after 11 rule if it is a) life or b) death or c) you need bailing out of jail
I am lucky to have never had a d*unk 3am call.. or someone calling for shags at stupid o'clock
so what is the rules you have with regard to people calling you?

People on here? or regular friends and family?
Im available to family and friends at any time but no-one would ring at stupid o clock unless it was an emergency
Swinging friends will only get in contact at silly times if im online and they know im up,other than that then they would'nt dream of contacting me(well Rob as he has the bat phone) in the middle of the night, again that depends on who it is really and if it was an emergency,in which case we would be there for them if we could |

I have an app on my Desire called Sweet Dreams which puts the phone on silent mode after midnight until 07:00.
Unfortunately, though, I have to have my work phone switched on when I'm on call, and I regularly get called in the middle of the night to fix something or investigate what's gone tits up. When the guys in the data centre call me at the wee hours of the morning, I'm usually very grumpy but over the years they've learned not to take it personally. |

Sometimes my friend will text me to see if im awake before she rings if she cant sleep. Emergencies and those i love can ring anytime but the only person that rings me after 11 is jay to say goodnight. |

My phone is never switched off and is on vibrate from 7am to 6.30pm when at work.
If anyone phones me after 10pm they're greated with a gruff "who dead?" People know better than to call me at stupid o'clock: unless they want a tongue lashing! The exception is family and my favourite playmate.
I know when he has his team of engineers down for their team meeting/one-to-ones they'll end up going out for a meal and drink and he'll be tipsy and call me as he walks home! |

My phone is also my alarm clock, so it is never switched off.
I have had worked and still am in positions where I would be contacted in case of emergencies or anything wrong at work.
I would rather peeps at work ring me and let me know of an incident as soon as it has happened, rather than to walk into a heap of poo because of inadequate containment actions etc...
So no, late night phone calls do not bother me. |
