Preying on the vulnerable.

Jump to: Newest in thread

By (user no longer on site) OP     over a year ago

Mr.

Let me start of by saying that some of the following is based purely on speculation and guesswork, and good old intuition.

I am definitely going to ruffle a few feathers with this post.

It's well known that there are vast numbers of single guy's on here fact. A portion of those are socially inept and very probably could be considered vulnerable. (anyone who has talked to some of these guy's or been to a club will know exactly the sort I mean, no disrespect intended but there is a reason why some people are single) now I haven't got a problem with these guys.

I will admit that I enjoy looking at the most popular pic's.

I have noticed as we all have that there maybe one or two who are probably working girls, maybe?

Also there appears to be a influx of very young women who are looking for "daddies" (already debated in depth and something that doesn't sit well with me)

Now as we are all aware of the tactics the ladies employ to get most fabbed and who fabbed them.

K.

So my question is are there people on here who are preying on the vulnerable and lonely?

Likewise it could be said that some guy's are taking advantage of lonely /vulnerable women?

Yes it's a lot of generalised statement's with no actual proof, people are consenting adults who agree to the lifestyle choice.

So what I really asking is, are there any safeguards set in place to protect the vulnerable from being taken advantage of by other's?

Look before people jump down my throat and accuse me of this and that.

I am measly trying to get a sensible adult debate going to highlight the "possibility" that the vulnerable could be at risk of being taken advantage of.

Speculating based on observations and personal experience.

However I could be widely off the mark and completely wrong on all counts, probably talking utter shitte.

It would be very interesting if the people who run the site had some input regarding this?

Short of a warning on this site not to give money or gifts to people, a warning no one would read, I'm not sure what you could do?

People are scammed daily in all sorts of situations, not just here and not just involving relationships. I'm not convinced there is a way to stop it?

It's maybe something kids should be taught in schools though. I think the problem is much wider than Fab.

It's all over the place here. Fit, young, horny men choosing a lonely divorcee who feels she hasn't been looked at twice since the divorce. Older men with money being used in exchange for sex. Young girls who were the ugly duckling at school being whisked up by the first men to show them kindness.

The weak and vulnerable are preyed on everywhere it's blindingly obvious on here but I'm not sure how it can be prevented. The thin end of the wedge is when an obviously vulnerable youngish man posts something a bit naive, he's frequently destroyed verbally, then you get the posts from men asking if it's ok to put thirty quid in a woman's account because she doesn't have taxi fare...

So you're basicaly saying prostitutes prey on vunerable men?

Now based on the usual definition of vunerable in this context being mentally ill or deficient/low IQ.

That does not seem a very sound business stratagey as those types of people dont tend to have particuarly large incomes.

Yes but that then leads to some guy's assuming or treating all women as prostitutes.

Which is very probably why our last club visit didn't feel like a club it felt more like a brothel.

But yes providing a service, but on here tho?

I don't think thats the logical conclusion at all.

And the club situation is probbaly more down to club pricing.

Single men paying large sums of money are going to generally expect something for it.

There's every possibility on a site like this the vulnerable of both sexes could be taken advantage of, I sometimes look at profiles and think that for sure.

We've all seen threads where people have been stitched up & lost money / mentioned others asking for money in return for sexual favours etc etc.

As for safeguarding ~ there are tools in place to contact Admin if you suspect something isn't quite right. Everyone on here is an 'adult', over 18 that's where the duty of care ends I assume.

I think in someways the swinging world is protected from the issues raised OP when compared to the "vanilla" dating scene.

In vanilla world it might be considered appropriate to pay for dinner, drinks etc. at the start and then as the relationship grows perhaps gifts etc. But in the swinging world any mention of money or gifts is an instant red flag to most.

Vulnerable can be emotionally lacking. A site this size could be a fair few.Yes I can imagine there are a number of people who prey on the vulnerable but how do you control it? Very easy through messaging to say what the other person wants to hear.In real life this happens no different than on fab.

If thats as severe as youre making out that would be along the lines of some form of autism which would come under the ill bit.

But having zero social skills doesnt make you vunerable.

I know people with no social skills you wouldnt be able to scam them as they'd just straight up tell you to fuck off when you spoke to them.

People who prey on the vulnerable exploit greed, need for love, lonliness and use flattery to do it. It can happen to all sorts of people. I was sat next to an elderly woman in the hairdresser who was in contact with two U.S. military men, she was an intelligent and articulate woman and try as we might neither my hairdresser or me could convince her that these were scammers.

You right people scam and use other people all the time in "real life" so it's really no surprise that it would happen on Fab to, we have not managed to stop in the real world so can't see how you could do it on Fab other then report it if you feel you have be use or asked for payment for sex.

"Some fair points and sensible replies.

Indeed!!

We had an experience on here where a couple told us they would be pleased to meet us so long as we paid for their meal and drinks. They then went on to post that she would give away blow-jobs for a tenner a pop (no pun intended).

As far as your comments regarding "vulnerable" individuals go, we recognised a while ago some of the situations you discuss. However, are those that "prey" on the vulnerable just here or are they an unfortunate part of society in general? Maybe there is no greater percentage here than elsewhere, it is just that we see it more readily because of the very open nature of this community?

Maybe a question we have to ask ourselves is, "what would you do if, whilst at a swingers party, you witnessed someone taking advantage of an individual who was possibly socially inept, confused, depressed?"

Difficult?

Autism is NOT a mental illness. I think it's really important people understand that. It's a difference in the way someone's brain processes informationZ

It's like a PC computer calling a MAC mentally ill.

Different. Not less.

Autistics often feel sorry for neurotypical (non-autistic) people.

Neurotypical people place too much value on what others think of them, to their own detriment. They aren't very logical. They struggle to be truthful in all situations. They don't have heightened senses, and often miss sensory information. Imagine NOT being able to be captivated by the leaves on a tree moving in the wind for hours? Poor neurotypicals. Maybe they can get therapy or something.

London

There's plenty of preying on the vulnerable that goes on every day and that's clearly to be seen on TV advertising.

Whilst I was reading this, and advert for life insurance that used the death of a mother to bolster their profits came on.

I do think there are people who use fab for material gain, eg massively overcharging for a room contribution at a gang bang.

I wouldn't say they are praying on the vulnerable but I would say they aren't acting within the spirit of the site.

"So you're basicaly saying prostitutes prey on vunerable men?

Now based on the usual definition of vunerable in this context being mentally ill or deficient/low IQ.

That does not seem a very sound business stratagey as those types of people dont tend to have particuarly large incomes.

I don't think that is 'basically' what he is saying at all ...

Go back and read it again "

Well it is given hes talking about "professional" and working girls

"It isn't just about men paying women for sex though is it. It's about emotional vulnerability as well as financial and it isn't just women preying on men it goes both ways.

A lot of the 'appreciation' threads basically say "I for one, actually prefer women who don't have any teeth / prefer to wash after sex / enjoy sex with 12 cats watching"

Don't get you?

I'm agreeing with you, just smile and nod.

Men prey on women here by pretending to like features they know most other men don't.

Yep! "

But is that men preying on women or the women preying on the men.

The women are taking advantage of the desperation of the men to get a shag despite the man being offput by certain features/habits.

Take an example;

We have a couple with a very attractive female and a unattractive bisexual male partner.

Now there are lots of very fit guys who want to shag the wife.

The couple puts up the condition to shag the wife you have to suck off the husband.

So a guy decides fuck it he doesnt fancy the guy but he'll do it to shag the female.

So who is taking advantage of who, the couple the guy or the gug the couple

True.

But when they admit they don't like a particular feature they usually get jumped on by 'the offended party'

No not at all its a sex site and obvious what it is lol.

I find the dating sites a lot more preying on the vulnerable ..pretending and lying with the needy and vulnerable people (a lot of the time)...just to get a fuck.

I find you do have to be 100% on what you want from this site and stick to your guns ..it's a fun site or supposed to be xx

Vulnerability and low iq. No far from it.

The most intelligent man I ever met wad a Frickin genuine genius, a bonafide nuclear physicist.

But had zero social skills and couldn't interact with other's on a normal level.

If thats as severe as youre making out that would be along the lines of some form of autism which would come under the mentally ill bit.

Maybe they can get therapy or something."

Off topic, but ASD is a very wide spectrum with many experiencing severe disability who's shoes you would definitely not want to be in.

"It's all over the place here. Fit, young, horny men choosing a lonely divorcee who feels she hasn't been looked at twice since the divorce. Older men with money being used in exchange for sex. Young girls who were the ugly duckling at school being whisked up by the first men to show them kindness. "

Well its classed as a "developmental" disability, so yeah mental illness isnt the best description.

You wouldnt use mental illneas to describe downs syndrome either now i think about it.
