Most underrated bands

Don't everyone laugh at me (that includes you Ms G!!) but for me one of the most underated bands of my era is Madness - still going strong 35 years later they're all too often seen as that party band with the wacky videos, but there's far much more to them than that. Some of their album tracks are amongst the most finely crafted you'll ever find. Their 2009 album The Liberty Of Norton Folgate is one of the best albums of this century IMHO.
And yet most people don't see beyond their greatest hits and funny videos.

Yes, toured with Enter Shakiri and loads of festivals coming up"
They have just doubled in my estimation by touring with shikari!
I couldn't walk or talk properly for two days after a shikari gig, pits were brutal and don't get me started on the human pyramids! |

I cant agree with Madness as underrated i do agree about the music being superb and albulms magnificent but this band is huge biggest band of the 1980s and still going have you been to butpins in Nocember when they have thier own weekend |

I cant agree with Madness as underrated i do agree about the music being superb and albulms magnificent but this band is huge biggest band of the 1980s and still going have you been to butpins in Nocember when they have thier own weekend"
Seen them more than 50 times, and have been at their House Of Fun Weekender for the past four years, and whilst they have a loyal fanbase who will keep going to see them, they're still known as the singles band from the 80s with the funny videos by most, when they're so much more. They're nearly always overlooked when it comes to awards and other similar accolades, and that's what I mean by them being underated. |

Agree with Cocteau Twins. 
Head Over Heels and Treasure are perfection."
I still remember hearing them play "Pearly Dewdrops Drops" on the Old Grey Whistle Test in the mid 80s and love it still.
More recently, Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls |

Baltimora - ironically known as a one hit wonder band for 'Tarzan Boy', the rest of their work was vastly better, rock solid 80s pop, why they faded so fast is a mystery. |

I'm sorry but madness can never be described as underrated. They still sell out huge venues, 30 years after being one of the biggest bands of their era. Some of their work may be underrated but the band aren't |

Just to clarify the use of the word 'Ironically', because their only hit wasn't as good as pretty much everything else they did! |

Have you had the joy of watching Tim Barry? He supported Frank Turner on tour a few years back and ive now seen him half a dozen times more than Frank Turner lol |
