With virtually every T.v. Advert and woman's magazine and soap opera demonising men to the point where we are just seen as two legged cockeroaches , I would like to shine a light in this dark murky tunnel and share a positive story about a man I read recently in a magazine . It was about a head sherpa called Lhakpa Tenzing who has climbed Mount Everest 21 times on expeditions for affluent westerners . No body has scaled Everest more times than him . When asked was he proud of this unbelievable achievement he replied " I would have prefered to be a doctor , but I need the money for my children . That's the reason why I climb mountains , so they don't have to . " Humbling .

You really think men are demonised, as opposed to specific men or male characters?

"You really think men are demonised, as opposed to specific men or male characters?"
Very rare to see a positive depiction of men in the media , majority is very negative .

Generally speaking, yes, they are. Homer Simpson, various characters in sitcoms and such like. Men are depicted as useless and generally fumbling. Man 'bashing' also seems to be very popular in the left-wing media where certain feminist writers spout off about women being oppressed and the wage-gap myth.

I agree, men are becoming increasingly demonised in the media but what seems to be forgotten in this disgusting misandry is this ... Who gave birth to men? That's right women, you did, shame on you.

What about the larger number of excellent men depicted in different types of media? Like the fantastic, intelligent detectives in every drama show pretty much all being men for one.

Is this entire post for real? I can't believe people truly believe men are only shown as underdogs in entertainment/media. It's mad.

Not a 'look at me post', valid points made. When it comes to look at me posts/profiles, it has to be said that women get the medals there.

The OP made a good point about the portrayal of men in the media, be it newspapers or the sitcom type. If the roles were reversed and women were slated in a similar way and to a similar extent it would be classed as 'hate speech' and shut down very quickly.

"You really think men are demonised, as opposed to specific men or male characters?"

I dunno when a university diveristy officer can put up signs saying no straight wite men or kill all cis men and not even get a suspension deapite national coverage it is worrying.

Especially with the new definitions for racism and sexism being pushed theae days in which being racist or sexist requires "power" and the only people with "power" are white men and as such you cannot be racist or sexist against them as you ahve no "power" so its totaly fine.

Then theres those domestic abuse adverts with the body parts where every negative was aimed directly at men not women.

That the government somestic abuse page has a helpline for women suffering from abuse.

But for men it has a helpline for those worried they're going to abuse their wives and girlfriends.

There does seem to be an institutionalisation of sexism against men in what should be suportive arears

Does disagreeing with negative portrayal of men necessarily mean endorsement of negative female sentiment? Don't think thats what he said.

There's lots of adverts where men save the day or are the beautiful model themselves (most aftershaves, for example).

It's a blinkered view to say men are only antagonists, or stupid in media.

See in my opinion, the underlying question that the op is asking is, are feminists an feminism going to far?

Are feminists not actually trying to gain equality for the sexes and actually aiming for female superiority?

Nah look at how teachers sleeping with students is reported.

You'll never read about a male teacher "seducing" a female student but thats always how its written when a female teach sleeps with a male student.

Cant remember the last time i saw a hero fireman/policeman story tbh

humbling yes...however, Lhakpa Tensing was always going to be a mountain climber, starting his career as a Sherpa for the teams trekking up Everest and then eventually being given the chance to climb Everest himself. He actually moved himself and his family to the USA to give his children better schooling and when not mountaineering himself, he works for a local company to earn money....so I don't think becoming a doctor was ever really on his agenda, and by saying it might have been kind of takes away from the mountain climbing records he has already broken, IMO

"With virtually every T.v. "

Personally I think that's a load of old bollocks!

This is what happened when people analysed the images of men and women published in The Sun over a 6 month period.

It;s pretty damning and sadly the Sun are very indicative of the nation's media"

Thanks for this - I hadn't seen it before.

The Kirsty Wark Blurred Lines isn't available on the iPlayer but I think this is the whole programme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOce0pijzE0

Ok hold on a minute dick owners. Man has been running this shit show we call a world for the last 2000 years and so far you have done a pretty shit job. Slavery and oppression, war on and industrial level and the persecution of every member of the human race, not a rich white man. So what are you bitches complaining about. You are still the rulers of this freak show and just because a few people are voicing their feelings about the fucking mess you have all made, you all lose your shit. We have been listening to your crap for thousands of years so yeah I think it is about time you put your cocks away, sit down and shut the Fuck up.
