It's not "thick"... it's called getting either getting over run with stupid amounts of vile and grim messages from single men who can't read profiles or being able to pick and choose for yourself.
See, OP, you're not the only one who can generalise! But then, if you think people who do that are thick, would you really want to meet them?  |

To be honest I think it's wise to use the filters provided. That way if you can't message then move on. If a message appears in my in box then that is a bonus. |

The ladies on this site do get jolly inundated with messages .
a friend tells me she blocks chaps and then when she see's some one who jolly well catches her eye she messages them.
Our profiles are our own and we can choose what to say and who to block |

Its a form of control they choose to exercise. Don't worry about it, concentrate your efforts on finding those with whom you can initiate a message and that meet your criteria....

I think the wording is wrong it should say "don't want to be contacted by single guys" not "not looking for single guys |

I wouldn't call them thick, no.
There could be few reasons for it...
They might like to go searching for single men themselves, especially if they have a certain type they go for.
They might have enough messages or contacts to keep them busy for a while.
They might be concentrating on meeting others (like just couples) for a bit.
