So, we've all seen them.....

Do you think it's right or wrong that contentious subjects are posted about if you know it'll cause argument?

We've all read comments about grabbing popcorn, brew n biscuits when people can plainly see its gonna get uppity. Should the post not be there in the first place? Should we all be more grown up? Should we keep opinions on done stuff to ourselves?

I think the only way of stopping forum fights is to ban the Internet.

I've seen it much, much worse on a lot of other forums. I don't think it's that bad here?

I think it's fine to post contraversal threads as long as those who post don't be abusive to others. It's healthy to diasagree. Xxx

I think as long as people post within the rules then they can post what they like.

We all have choice whether to join in / debate / argue. A forum after all is for debate, your definition of contentious may not be the same as mine & vice versa.

For seasoned forum goers some people bite way to easily.

open forum so post what the hell you want within the rules set by the site - but if you post controversial topics or something that invites personal comment be prepared for the good and bad - we are all here for ourselves not to please everbody else - for the record i love the forums - and like profiles stay away from the ones i dont want to get involved with and jump right in to the others

We've learned our lesson about getting involved in heated forum discussions, not really liking the taste of our own feet!

Debate is a good thing, but it's when things take a nasty turn we stay away as it takes just one idiot to turn a good discussion bad

If everyone always agreed and shared the same views on everything, the forums would be a very boring place.

Debate is good as long as it doesnt get personal and nasty.

As long as threads are within site rules, why shouldn't they be posted. People have the choice whether to open and read / post on them. There are plenty of threads and topics I avoid.

Some people thrive on being offended and will be offended if they can't find anything to be offended about? ?

I think some people do post threads that they know will be controversial.

That's absolutely fine but what I don't like is when they then accuse people of having a pack mentality on here when a lot disagree with them.

I will say if I think someone is behaving like a child. It's my opinion and I don't ask anyone to agree with me.

My favorite is when you get people who can't argue with you on the forum so start pm-ing you instead! Lol such vile behavior. Usually the same people who mistake trolling for "a different perspective". Still, it's just a bit of fun isn't it.

I post where I like, when I like, how I like. It won't ever make me popular, but it will make me consistent. There are some people on here I can banter with, and they banter back; others fire a personal attack (at just about anyone to be honest).

Not being able to accept what other people have to write and resorting to personal insults, belittles the attacker and not the one being attacked. I have seen whole threads turn on their heels because of that behaviour.

I sometimes derail threads, I don't mean to it just happens, nothing malicious in it. I often apologise, openly and in the forums. I often get very nice messages from people that never post on the forums, about my forum posts; I sometimes get nasty ones from people that do...

I have been accused of being

A white knight

A racist

Anti-semitic

Homophobic

Talking to people like shit

But I have received compliments too. In this life, everything I or you or anyone else will or can say will or can be judged and invariably will be, opinions can and will be attacked and rendered obsolete by facts (or fiction)...

Personal attacks, childish behaviour, insults.... they lead to only one thing; angst, and that I can do without.

Let the little voices have their day, let the rant rage and the venom burn veins, let the spittle of the offended quench the misery seeker...But most of all, let all words cast into the ether by the largely anonymous be lost when the thread slips of the page....

"I post where I like, when I like, how I like.

Well said old boy"

I am 41.... I don't know how old you are..because? Not keen on the term "Old Boy"... but I wont take offense...

Am starting to think this may end up that way!!

"I start nice, non-contentious posts about MasterChef and David Attenborough, although its only a matter of time before one kicks off.

I wonder if Mercury is retrograde at the mo.

I am responding to your post with an apt tune, rather than starting a thread of my own.

Nice video...shame about the song "

I like you but I disagree and think both are good. I love the descending chromatic brass pattern towards the end. It kicks arse. Each to their own though.

A bit of middle ground would be good.

It's either all lovey dovey or handbags at dawn.

"So, we've all seen them.....

Discuss x

I hate the popcorn threads. They are used to steer a thread in a certain way. They are used to encourage conflict and arguments. And they are almost always posted by the most boring uninspiring trolls.

Maybe you should show us all how it's done and start posting threads of your own instead of feeding of other people's threads and ideas??

That would make a refreshing change for you ?

Do I have to start threads? I like to think I make a valid contribution unlike the 'popcorn' comments I;ve just criticised.

To be honest I don't see what relevance your suggestion has to what I posted?

The revelance is this... Your so quick to critique and criticise other people's threads and posts that maybe you should start threads of your own before criticising others threads and posts.

But people like you don't do threads as you know you have nothing interesting to say, so you lurk around the forums picking at other people's threads and posts like an annoying shit fly !!

Very sad and spineless "

So commenting in a thread is critiquing and criticissing? Do you understand how a forum works, people post, other people reply.

How is it spineless to post my own opinion?

"All I can say is ....Thank fuck I don't have to associate with some of the BELLENDS that frequent this place in my personal life! !

Didn't you put something up on your Lady post in big capital letters? And I quote from your post

THEY JUST LIKE ARGUING AND PERSONALLY ATTACKING PEOPLE ON POSTS AND THREADS?

Calling people bellends is that not personally attacking people on threads?

"

Out of the hundreds of threads I've posted and commented on I think you'll find its very rare of me to single out anyone individually unless I'm defending a personal attack.

Even my "BELLENDS" post was generic and it didn't single anyone out personally.

Big difference to my generic threads and personal attacks in forums etc.

But to be honest I'm wasting my breath as some people in here are beyond reason.

I'm out a here .

You lot carry on

Oh dear, seems I have missed something .... well, can't even be bothered to read through the whole thread. Except to say that it gets boring when people can't be bothered to air their opinions and others are told to be quiet .... its mighty boring here. Now I am going to post basically the same comment on another thread ... meanwhile, had a great meet last night, nothing to do with the forums ...

I don't always get my point across clearly and I'm often misunderstood. I can't help it,I don't have a properly functioning brain, and when I try to explain myself my deep thinking gets jumbled. It pisses me off, especially on the political threads where I'm constantly deleting comments before posting.

Beyond the shadows.

A conversation does not have to be people agreeing with each other. Just because people have different viewpoints does not mean that they can’t communicate with each on a friendly basis. Just because you have expressed a different opinion than me on a subject matter and I respond with a different prospective than yours does not necessarily mean I’m upset with your point of view.

The problem with text is you can’t really convey emotions effectively (well at least I can’t) as well as you can if you were sitting in front of each other. You can’t see the pitch in someone’s voice, or the gestation’s or the reassuring smile on someone’s face some of the things that aid in controlling the situation. You might say something in jest, something meant in a none serious way, something meant to be an off the cuff remark, something that sounded good and none offensive in your head or simply just conversing but still find yourself offending where no offence was meant in the first instance, before anyone knows it, it’s all spiralled out of control. I would put a large part of it down to the medium we have chosen to communicate in.

alot of what you post will get taken every way other than how you intended

gets to you at times but mostly find it funny how some people will interpret what you`ve said

There are arguments over anything and everything, the silliest one was over brown or red sauce on a bacon butty.

The best thing to do is avoid any threads you don't like and people you don't like
