It seems to me that a lot of people are missing out on some very good fun with others just because they restrict the age of people they want contact from on fabswingers. I have met with lots of older women and men and also younger women and men all of whom have their own unique sex appeal. The older generation tend to have more experience, take their time and ensure everyone has a good time. The younger ones tend to be looking for quick short bursts of fun and games, but aren't always sure what they want.
What are other peoples views on this - or am I alone in thinking we are becoming more and more ageist on the site.

Lots of people are not keen on the idea of meeting people who are older than their parents or younger than their kids.
Others just feel that a bigger age gap means that it's harder to talk and socialise.
On the other hand, some people really like older, or younger folk and others will shag anything with a pulse.

It's not interviews for jobs in B and Q it's sex with strangers. Making sweeping generalisations about the characteristics of certain age groups is far more ageist in my opinion than exercising a choice over the age of people you have sex with.

We are ageist.
Assuming ageist means we make pre- judgements about people based on their age.
For regular friends and playmates it's all about personality and a connection so she does not matter but for light hearted fun and relief when away at a hotel we want something different.
It's down one we will probably never meet again, we don't want them here for hours, it's just a bit of fun and for that, young, fit guys are the order of the day.
Now we could just say fit but every guy on fab thinks he is fit so if we instead set an age limit it filters out a significant number of those who will not be what we are looking for in that circumstance.

I make my choices from experience.
I'm not going to be satisfied with a man just because he has experience,because I won't be turned on by him.
Younger doesn't always mean inexperienced and older doesn't always mean experienced. The amount of sex one has had also doesn't mean you will be better than someone with less. |

. Each number makes their own decision based on what they want . They are also entitled to use age as a deciding factor .
As there are members of all ages on this site , it is just a question of funding the right ones for you.

I had a relationship with a man coming on for 16 years older than me. When I met him I fancied him as he still looked good, by the time we parted ten years on - I can honestly say he was wrinkly, pretty bloody bald and just NOT someone I would look twice at.

We have age limits on fab simply to try and narrow down to couples that we are more likely to have common interests with, the upper age limit has been reduced as people lie about their age. In a club, age is irrelevant and we play with those we are both attracted to and never felt to ask someone's age. |

We have listed our age preference on our profile but not added filters to our messages. This is largely because the majority won't be for us but we do know that some will be (and couples won't both always be within the ages), I still tell them that they are over our age preference if I'm not attracted to them...I'm 26 I don't really want to meet with someone old enough to be my dad or older!
The individual(s) are the important thing to us but in our experience all men I tell are over the age limit say they "look after themselves and don't look their age" I've spent time chatting to some guys before they eventually send a pic only to be left deflated...
We also don't meet younger men (clubs an exception as I don't ask age etc there) but an arranged meet won't happen with younger guys, I don't like the idea of being 'the older woman' but it's all about personal preference, OP you need to respect others opinions and find someone else to message. |

It is not a bit ageist to assume most young couples just want a "burst of fun" not to mention some of the older couples we've met who act like they are in their teens (which can at times be cringeworthy)

I'm not an employer, my body is not covered by government statute to allow all comers to enter.
My sexual preference has always been older men and I can't see it changing now. I'm surrounded by young men, my daughters and girlfriends friends and sons. I haven't looked at one and thought hmmm...I would!

The OP is right in that age is just a number and there will be exceptions. Typically, I do not fancy women much older than myself, so I do not actively search for them - but they can contact me, and I have been pleasantly surprised on a couple of occasions.
Personally, I'd like more ways to narrow down my searches and wish other men would be equally selective (or discriminatory, depending on your view).

As a younger guy, i'm going to have to say i disagree, whilst seeing your point,and having supported your point in the past.
In the past i would have agreed, saying that i got overlooked because of my age, then i realised it was my attatchment to my age that got in the way of things. I went to a club thinking ''oh god these people are going to treat me like a child, Ill be pushed to the corner and ignored''
The truth was once i relaxed and allowed myself to be the mature and eloquent person i am, my age didnt matter.
In regards to fabs as a website and the filters and such, people will have their preferences due to their experiences and i respect that. I enjoy the the thought that at a club i can be mature enough or charming enough or whatever enough of a person to evoke some sort of questioning of these filters, and having done so brings a smile to my face. People will be people, they like comfort zones and with the unutterable expectation that this lifestyle brings to an outsiders perspective i think its okay to have such measures, if it in turn offers a further expression of oneself.

True to an extent; most of the whingers I see are older ( and rather pathetic ) blokes who think that they will get easy shags from younger women.
Or younger guys thinking all women should be cougars
