What, in your opinion, are your good driving habits?
Again - NO JUDGING OF POSTS OR POSTERS.
Two of mine are always maintaining a good stopping distance and giving plenty of room to cyclists - even when they may be be having like numpties. |

Negative habit
I do tend to be a bit quick, especially on the bikes.
Positive habit
I am extremely tolerant, and give way / space to other drivers
many other habits of course, mostly on the positive side. |

With the exception of middle lane hogs and fog light fuckwits I am very, very tolerant and forgiving of the shortcomings in other people's driving abilities, and always apreciate when others are forgiving of my own shortcomings. |

"After over 12 years of driving I still can't parallel park - is that bad? "
It's a good job you're not in London then. You'd be driving around a long time looking for a space.
Get a car with park assist and let the car work it out.

They didn't offer park assist on my model, I think it was only Golf upwards at the time, but I'm due a new car next year.
So essentially if I can't drive into a space then I don't park there, it usually involves a lot of walking. |

My car has park assist but I've never used it. I think it will be harder for me to unlearn parallel parking than to learn to use the park assist. I would need to unlearn how to park in order to trust it to park well.

"Massive positive of mine - I use my fog lights if it's damp or cloudy to increase visibility.
Wind ups are exempt from the no criticism rule.
That's just plain knobish. "
Nope - no exemptions, no criticism. |

I drive meticulously at or below the speed limit on dangerous parts or where speed cameras me be present. And with good stopping distance. A drive yesterday got over 70 mpg, which I could achieve more frequently but don't.
I also drive for the common good, rather than my own gain. |

I leave space at side roads in heavy traffic so I don't block a junction. Although I have been caught out misjudging the flow of traffic and blocked a few. I feel guilty about that. |

My last car had park assist and I used it twice in 5 years, and only to see how it worked. |

I do many motorway miles (for a car driver) and on personal journeys set the cruise at 80mph, on work journeys at 70mph then use excellent lane discipline and forward thinking to stick to it for virtually the entire journey. |
