Dont you just love um

Just watched status quo in montreal and have to say it was brilliant.

Dont know how they still do what they do and so well.

Give me the oldies anytime..

eagles, stones etc.

Than these newbie groups/bands who know one will remember in 5 years let alone over 40 yrs

The Forest

I don't know about other wrinkly rockers, but I know that The Who have a permanent cardiac-ready paramedic crew at all their gigs.

All the old bands from the 60's and 70's and some from the 80's are true musicians who mosty write their own stuff and do it because they love it. And with that brought fortune and fame.

Not like all the manufactured people now who have no talent, dont write their own stuff and want to get into music to become rich and famous.

thats correct

Rod was asked to guest vocal on 3 or 4 tracks for them especially Broken Dream as the bands singer felt he did not have teh voice for it

Rod is on tour in June, (i have tickets for Leeds on teh 3rd) he has the Goddess that is Stevie Nicks headlining with him as a duo

Quo are great live, seen them many many times, they tour every year usually around october

Oh dear. Love it when people go on about bands not being remembered in 10 years time and all that.

Remember people saying that about Oasis. This generation will find their own heroes and create their own legends that will shine on. Just like ours and yours did.

And it's outlined by the same bands headlining festivals every couple of years.

There's very few headline worthy bands and there doesn't seem many coming through.

There not for you but will be for millions around the world. Which makes them legendary. There concerts sell out in minutes, literally, but youll always get those that look down there nose at anything not in their scope of appreciation.

Have you took the time to look at bands coming up at the moment? been to the sweaty intimate venues to see who's creating a buzz?

The 1st time I saw the Arctic Monkeys they were supporting Supergrass at the Leadmill (decent club in Sheffield) then it didnt seem like 5 minutes they'd sold out old Trafford twice in less than an hour. Luckily I got tickets for the 1st night. Seen em a few times inbetween too. And for lots of people their age they will be legendary. (quickest selling debut album the charts had seen at the time)

I think it's pretty much a widely held view that Oasis didn't make a good album after Morning Glory. Though I still did like Be Here Now.

Saw Status last summer in Rochester Castle Grounds. What an evening. The summer concerts at Rochester are great, everyone comes early brings picnics and it's really chilled.

Its all down to taste , i didnt think much of Oasis beyond the first album and a few b sides (not impressed by their production values either) but saw them live years ago and they were very good , just because some bands have been together for eons doesnt make them 'legendary' in my opinion , some drift into mediocrity and release albums because of contract obligations that only the die-hard fans buy . Some make one great record some evolve and make lots , some are part of a scene or genre some are more individual and innovative either way its taste and not really viable to say better or not.In my opinion that is . PS , have Oasis not split up anyway ?

Lol you dont rate them, I dont rate Status Quo (actually dislike em for some reason) but Oasis are engraned in so many people now that their flame wont go out untill long after we're all bones in a box. If there alive in 30 years (liam will be 70 odd) then people will want em to play.

Sorry didnt mean to hijack your thread or start an argument. Its just when people condemn a whole generations music with a quick glance. Like the kids care lol. They will always find there own heroes and create their own legends, cos they'll need soundtracks to their lives the same way we all did! A 16 year old kid just finding his way into music wont care what some 28 year old says.

Mine was britpop, I lived that shit, danced to it loved to it. Did so many 1sts to it. So for me ill always be taken to a happier easier place by Boys and Girls by Blur and not Rockin all over the world and suedes Saturday night will always be THE perfect love song!

Maybe for the kids today its Plan B (who is excellent) or a band not even on commercial radio yet so we wont have heard it. But it'll be out there.

I think the last great uniting band were the Arctics, they always had a right cross section at their gigs. From chav to long haired rock boys

Oasis forever lol.
