Dear Forumites, Fabbers and Friends

Wow what an amazing evening here in North Wales. The sun is beaming down it warming rays, birds are singing merrily in the trees and all seems well with the world. Pooch and I will saunter out later to watch the sun melt like a crimson ball into a clear blue sea, heaven.

We have noticed recently lots of keep fit, get fit, perfect body and mind threads. The most recent invention seems to be the fibbit watch. It monitors your heart and steps rate, people my friends in the real world included seem fixated by this. The magazines, films and television supply us with images of a perfect world populated by perfect presenters and stars.

Chums , you are perfect already, you are unique and wonderful.

Pooch and I spend many hours gazing at the stars, the billions of galaxies and planets. It’s a very humbling thing. We are the only plant we know of with life. The billions and trillions to one chance that our planet has life and that you even exist is amazing. You are amazing.

So chums no questions this evening I just wanted you to realise that in this image obsessed world in which we live you are one of a kind. You’re not too fat, or too thin, too small or too tall, too old. You have the perfect body for you and the perfect person in it. No over thinking please and be more compassionate with yourselves as you are with others.

Have a wonderful evening, friends.

Pooch and I are heading off to say nighty night to the sun

Taff and Pooch

One of the best sunsets Ive seen was in Mallory Square.

Such a spectacular view, enhanced by the crowd which gathers every evening to watch and applaud when the sun finally slips into the water.

Well, I appreciate the sentiment Taff, but it just isn't true. For reasons which are sometimes beyond our control, some of us have put weight on and need to take it off again!

I don't do so for anyone else, on the contrary, the boobs will shrink and there will be wailing and gnashing of teeth!

I know how amazing I am, I know what I am worth, and I know I will be happier back at my normal weight.

I'm not striving to be an uber fit muscleman, just be healthy and happy with myself, and enjoy the activities and being outside (especially in this lovely weather )

Great post Taff

Everyone is special in their own way.

I don't believe there is such a thing as perfect, as that is very much a subjective thing, but people can certainly be perfect for each other.

3 years ago i had no quality of life, i weighed 21 and 1/2 stone and my mental health was shit. I now weigh 9 and 1/2 stone and my mental health is the best its ever been. Through sheer hard work and determination ive changed my life around. Three things happened this week that made me realize just how far ive come and no way am i going to let anyone plant a negative thought in my head. If i want to be obsessed by my fitbitb i bloody well will be

the reason I wrote this thread is because of my own story

its not a dig at any one I promise.

This week has seen the culmination of a nine month project. sadly the end result didn't go my way but that's life. I threw my heart and soul in to it.

Friday I was shattered and this weekend I have taken time to think about things.

this time three years ago I was in a very different place, my head was full of negative thoughts and I could see very little light.

I had self doubt and hated every thing about myself . its been a long three years back to be the chap I was before. then on Friday morning something happened , a ghost from my past slipped back and the image sent me back to those darker days, not the happy chap you all know.

I have just seen a thread , are women over 40 past it, muscular men , and the fitbit debate.

I thought we could all do with a positive blast me included so please this thread is not aimed as a dig at any one , maybe one person and that's myself

Dear Taff and Pooch

Your sunset sounds glorious and I hope you both enjoy your meander when you go out later on.

Thank you for what I perceived to be an uplifting and positive message.

I don't know your history but it sounds as though you've come a long way over the last 3 years and I hope that the incident in Friday has only caused a temporary blip.

Hugs n stuff

"I have asked the mods to remove the thread why? Its aready achieved what it set out to do and if it makes one person feel shit about themselves so what"

Diamond - very rarely do I consider any of your posts to be horrible or directed but on this occasion you are out of order.

No one is taking away from you what you have achieved in any way but for you to come out with what you have is uncalled for.

Many of us have been through hell over the last few years - some haven't survived, some have but are very broken, others healing and only a little broken.

Others are perfectly healthy and loving life - the point is we are all individuals here with our own lives.

FFS - if you'd gone at certain other posters on here I wouldn't be writing this post at all. I might even be joining in.

But Taff?

Of all the posters here he is the one most likely to cause the least offence and hurt in the history of Fab!

Someone said "get a grip" - I don't think that but I do think you need to look at yourself and consider what made you post that.

Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound

I hope the big red ball melted into the water with great beauty.

Everyone needs a reminder everyone once in a while that we are all special and beautiful in our own ways. Gadgets might help us keep to some sort of routine but they can't make us make the changes: those come from within.

Sandi Toksvig has the back page of Good Housekeeping. Last month she wrote an amusing piece about the Fitbit and her friend who tricks it into thinking she's standing up and moving around by raising her arm and waving it around. The punchline was that as this happens in bars and restaurants they end up with more food and drink as the waiters keep coming over.

Pooch is your Fitbit and you are his.
