I am fake

Well surprised the hell out of me.

I often see threads regarding fake profiles and how they are easy to spot.

Personally I'm not sure I've ever come across one that I'm aware of.

I have however recently been accused of being fake (3 separate occasions) which has surprised me.

My pictures are me (lighting and angles help), the description  (Weeble) is accurate, its true I'm very funny and I'm verified.

So I guess my question is what do you see in a profile that leads you to think it's fake.

Thanks Knitter

People will often cry "fake" if you decline to meet them.

Because by being on here we have to shag anyone that asks, obviously.

Fake can mean different things to different people on here such as having fake photos stolen from the Web or someone could say someone else is fake if they don't show up for a meet.

No idea if you are fake or not. Verifications can't be trusted on here. But you aren't looking to meet at present so that might be it.

And also had a snotty reply back because I wasn't interested, and then informed "it was my loss"

It's normally the veries for me,

I have seen a profile of a Woman and when I looked at her 3 veries 1 couple and 2 Men, They had all met each other, All joined around the same time even their profiles looked similar

It's just sour grapes. When I first joined the forums I was jumped on by the usual suspects screaming that I must be fake for whatever reason they could think of to upset me.

There's plenty of fakes here but just as many odd characters that get off on trying to put you down. Block and forget

We used to advertise for men on a classified Internet site, before we discovered Fab. Responses would vary from 20 to 70 per advert, and it was hubby's job to shortlist then chat via email and see where it went. Over the course of a year and a half we met approxamately 10 men, of which only 3 we liked and persued further. We were also let down a number of times due to time wasters. Our success rate with Fab is much better due to the verification system enabling us to out fakes/times-wasters and only meet men that we really like. Also people have stopped calling us timewasters since we've been using Fab, and I'm guessing because we are well verified. When we used the classified ads we were frequent described as timewasters if we didn't follow someone up. We once explained to a man, who hurled that accusation at us, that we had had fifty replies to the advert and had chosen someone to meet, and apologised for inadvertently wasting his time.

I got labelled as not bisexual by a man I politely declined meeting. I explained that I had a regular male play partner and also played regularly with women and asked how this made my description of my own sexuality inaccurate. Apparently because there's only the one chap. I was confused!

I've been accused of being fake, male and once a video loop when in the chat rooms.

My usual answer is "I'm not fake, well, apart from a couple of bits".

Many reasons people could be considered fake, profile/pics are too good to be true, couple profile could be just a man pretending to be a couple, a male or female could use fake pictures in order to collect pictures from people.

Signs for spotting could be only a couple of pictures available, putting pics through an image search tool, reluctance to meet meaning all talk of meet but always excuses, inability to send further pictures, wanting to only speak filthy or exchange pictures. There's lots of ways but usually the best tool is to listen to your gut instinct.

My pet peeve and I've had it many times not just here but every forum I've ever been on, I've been accused of being a man, not by pictures but because of my writing style, if anything all it proves is the way I converse is consistant and is exactly how I am in real life.

For the people that aren't meeting why not use mail filters and/ or delete everything off your 'looking for' list (it takes you off the searches).

Massive reduction of mail and zero angst.

"I have to say it isn't something that has upset me. I'm just interested in what people think.

The responses you've had here do suggest that you're real, but since you asked, if I'd just happened to see your profile, the lack of any verifications and the fact that you don't want to meet would both make me wary. They don't in themselves make you a fake, but they are things that you have in common with fake profiles. Perhaps in some cases you are indeed just getting called this by guys who can't handle rejection, as has been suggested, but there are a lot of fake profiles on this site and some may genuinely have drawn what I'm sure in this case is the wrong conclusion, and, understandably, not been happy. I'm afraid the possession of toes doesn't make you a genuine woman either: men pretending to be women possess them too

I always assume certain profiles or people are faking their status or requirements. For instance the person who is away but wants someone to contact their partner for sex or to describe what they want to do, the person whose partner wants to be surprised in a hotel room, the person who has a couple's profile but only pictures of one of them on it...I could go on. I could be wrong of course but it's not a chance I'm willing to take.

I'm not entirely sure what a 'fake' is, but I wonder if it's possible to fake being verified as genuine. Not for one minute suggesting that this is you, as many people hide their verifications for privacy reasons etc. But I suppose someone could theoretically set up 2 profiles connected to different emails and verify themselves, then hide the verification, but still have a green tick. Not being able to see verifications might be an excuse for some people to hurl the 'fake' accusation. Dunno.

I quite often get accused of being a fake, i.e. accused of putting up pics of me that are years old, as how can I possibly look like that at my age! Can't help it if I have good genes can I. My dad of nearly 90 looks more like 80 so I'm hopeful I will be the same

Not necessarily what I've seen in a profile in these couple of recent instances, but they lead me to think they could very well be fake because of their behaviour at least.

In the last week i've had friend requests sent out of the blue(one from a couple, one from a woman). I've never seen them in the forums, I hardly ever go on chat(just dip in for a few minutes occasionally), and I've never PM's them(or they me), or fabbed any of their photos(and again, vice versa).

One profile(the woman's)has a profile pic, and many more which are friends only), and the couples has no profile pic and the same again with regards to their friends pictures.

I had one reply from the couple to a message after accepting friendship, and none from the woman, even though both have read messages I've sent them.

The couple have shedloads of veris, the other doesn't have them displayed.

Anyone else reckon they're either blokes trying to get at my pictures(ha, God knows they could pick a finer specimen), people who are just really busy and have 'hotter' people to talk to, or are they just timewasters?

In any of the above scenarios, it seems to me they are 'fakes' at least in the context of sending friend requests for no apparent reason. A 'fake' friends request perhaps? Why send one otherwise?

Genuine puzzlement on my part: why would you (or anyone) who is verified choose not to display them? - at least the summary of them, if not the full text of each? That's what they are there for: to help other people on the site to have confidence that you are what you are saying you are, and that they can interact with you with confidence on that basis. What was your thinking in deciding you didn't want anything about them to be shown?

I used to display the summary but dont now as it shows when you were last verified.

This upset someone who I had met previously and lead to a conversation that I would have preferred not to have.

You need to be verified to verify someone else, but let me you give you this example from somebody I've recently skype'd with - except 'she' wouldn't show herself at all...it was a guy. Believe me, it was a guy, it gets to the point where, really, you can tell. 'She' had several verifications, one of which was from the guy who had set up the fake profile of her. He was a real guy, had met with genuine couples, who had verified him. Once he'd set up and verified the fake profile, he then set up several others of fake guys, they were then verified by the 'girl' and then could verify her in return. So you end up with a fake profile of a girl which initially looks very convincing because it has loads of veris on it. There are some really devious guys on here pretending to be girls on here, I'm afraid. I look hard at verifications before messaging people, and if somebody's been on here a long time and not showing theirs, it does make me wary

Although a random friend request is considered bad etiquette, but I don't think I would describe is as a suggestion of them being fake. You said the couple responded to your message and was well verified. That doesn't sound fake to me. The woman possibly, if she ignored your message and had hidden her verifications, but can't really tell.

OK, that's interesting, that's a scenario I'd not envisaged. It has to be one for you to weigh up as to what's best to do in these circumstances, of course, but I don't think that reason would usually occur to most people as being the one you've not displayed them, so it's just unfortunately going to be the risk you run if you don't

So you end up with a fake profile of a girl which initially looks very convincing because it has loads of veris on it. There are some really devious guys on here pretending to be girls on here, I'm afraid. I look hard at verifications before messaging people, and if somebody's been on here a long time and not showing theirs, it does make me wary"

I didn't know that you had to be verified to give a verification. That certainly makes it harder to fake a verification. But I do agree with you about being wary with hidden verifications. I think it would be pretty impossible to fake our verifications, which is why I suppose nobody ever calls us timewasters of fake.

I think verifications mean different things for different people. For some it gives confidence that the person is genuine.

Personally I don't read them for two reasons, first and most importantly I prefer to base my opinion of someone on my experience of them.

Secondly nobody is going to display a bad one.

"I'm not entirely sure what a 'fake' is, but I wonder if it's possible to fake being verified as genuine. Dunno.

Exactly I would have no worries about messaging you at all. It's just a shame you're not nearer

"Genuine puzzlement on my part: why would you (or anyone) who is verified choose not to display them? - at least the summary of them, if not the full text of each? That's what they are there for: to help other people on the site to have confidence that you are what you are saying you are, and that they can interact with you with confidence on that basis. What was your thinking in deciding you didn't want anything about them to be shown?

Again a very good point and I can only answer for myself.

I used to display the summary but dont now as it shows when you were last verified.

This upset someone who I had met previously and lead to a conversation that I would have preferred not to have.

OK, that's interesting, that's a scenario I'd not envisaged. It has to be one for you to weigh up as to what's best to do in these circumstances, of course, but I don't think that reason would usually occur to most people as being the one you've not displayed them, so it's just unfortunately going to be the risk you run if you don't"

Yes I've heard of people who get twitchy when a verification from someone else is written. Thankfully nobody has ever questioned what we do, and I would not be best pleased if they did. This is a swinging website, so it's normal to have multiple partners. Nobody has any right to get upset about a new verification. If they do they should not be swinging.

Good point, but for us, we initially need more information that our own judgement. We only play with men who have experience with playing with an MF couple, so verifications from couples where the meet was more than a social, is proof that the man is what they say they are. We will then use our judgement as to whether there is a good connection.

"I am fake

Well surprised the hell out of me.

I often see threads regarding fake profiles and how they are easy to spot.

Personally I'm not sure I've ever come across one that I'm aware of.

I have however recently been accused of being fake (3 separate occasions) which has surprised me.

My pictures are me (lighting and angles help), the description  (Weeble) is accurate, its true I'm very funny and I'm verified.

So I guess my question is what do you see in a profile that leads you to think it's fake.

Thanks Knitter "

Well we've exchanged at least 3 messages this year and you still haven't agreed to travel 300 miles just to suck my cock. So clearly you must be fake. Feel free to prove otherwise

You're quite right that nobody will display a bad one! But if they have lots of good ones, surely that's a good sign?! I don't understand your comment about basing your opinion on your experience of them - if say somebody you've not met before messages you, what experience do you have to draw upon to judge whether they're genuine and thus whether you want to take things any further?

I've been accused of being fake & worse still a journalist for the Daily Mail..!!

If you're referring photo / body wise, maybe what they percieve your look *should* be based on your description doesn't match up with the image shown.

That's only one suggestion, a lot of times though it's just sour grapes.

Seems to go along with the assumption that if a single bloke can't accommodate then he's not single (er? Is this Chris Evans' top tenuous?). And that if you don't have a face pic then you're fake/attached/worse.

Oh well...!

I'm more bothered about not misleading, rather than being someone who doesn't exist.

If discussing a potential meet then I try to keep my terminology conditional, rather than implying that I'm 100% definite about it.

I think I can say with very close to 100% certainty those, like knitter, who are genuine and as solid as I am.

The porn pic borrowers are just stupid.
