On BBC 4 this evening there is a jolly brilliant documentary about concept albums.

I do like a jolly good concept album.

They are usually thought of as a spiffing prog rock thing Yes or ELP but its of bands have made them

So pooch and I , now we have much more time on our hand we will be listing to more music .

So chums what's your favourite Concept Album ? It may be anyone from Pink Floyd to Frank Sinatra? And what do you like about it ?

Have fun chums

difficult one to call, love 2112, The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway has some big moments, but for an off the wall choice Mastodon's "Crack the Skye", with a barmy storyline about a disabled kid going through an astral wormhole and ending up in Tsar-era Russia and I think he either meets or becomes Rasputin at some point, trust me it's flip brill!

Not all concept albums are gawd-awful prog rock

Not sure if it meets the criteria, but I still love Jeff Wayne's War of the Worlds double album.

I'd say that WotW meets the criteria of a concept album better than some examples mentioned

Operation Mindcrime is quite fine too

Phil Lynott's parson Nathaniel and Julie Covington's Beth were brilliant I thought - plus I had a soft spot for David Essex'artilleryman.

good choice, but I prefer Quadrophenia, which surely counts as a concept
