I had to stop making my own bread as I would end up eating the whole loaf with melting butter warm from the oven. |

Ah. That's the other thing I can't do - bake.
I think it's because you're supposed to follow the instructions to the letter and that is not my forte.

"Oh and oven chips.
I make my own oven chips...the kids prefer them to frozen and they are dead easy...and healthier
Ooh. Do tell, recipe please "
Potatoes....and i use a drizzle of olive oil. It's that simple!...Brush a baking sheet with oil and Heat in the oven for a few minutesl while you prep the potatoes. I leave the skin on and cut into chip Shape then wash in cold water, drain and dry. Then coat in a small amount of oil..i add salt and pepper at this stage but you can leave that out. Then Bung them in the oven. I can't really advise on temperature or time as my oven is knackered and cooks everything way hotter than normal...but in my oven they take about 20-25 mins turning once, at about 180°c |

So that's why we are having a pub lunch then is it
lol i get by with basic stuff but is doing a roast really classed as cooking?"
Doing a roast properly is not basic. You have to get all the timings right to end up with the meat, potatoes, yorkies and veg all ready at the same time.

Use less flour and cook for a shorter time for your dumplings
I cook from scratch at home and out of jars at work

I have given all hope of making a successful dumpling, various methods have been tried and and tested, all have ended in a less than a satisfactory result. They are the bane of my life
Oh and the easiest I can do pastry is spelling it. You'd need a pneumatic drill to eat mine |

Sounds like you're handling it too much. Less kneading with warm hands. Pastry doesn't like that. |

Yeah, I must admit that is sound advice. It's not as bad as it used to be, but would love to be able to make a nice puff pastry though. |

I make almost everything from scratch. Roast beef which has been left gets made into a pie for the following day.
Really don't understand why people buy Yorkshire puddings or pancake mix as its so easy.
Even used to have a veggie patch too, would love another one. |

Thai green chicken curry. The best.
Mussels in a tomato and herb sauce. Simply divine.
Various spring rolls. Time consuming but worth it for the delicate taste
And more... |

I used to grow my own vegetables when I had a garden, can't beat fresh produce
I make my own Yorkies as well, have you tried putting some mint sauce into the mix? |

Not tried mint before. How much do you use for how many yorkies? |

Yes I've added mint sauce and other herb and spices to deal a little different depending on what I'm adding with the Yorkshires.
Can't beat growing your own veg. Family used to have an allotment...miss going there as a kid. |

I cook a lot, it's something I find incredibly relaxing. Meatballs in a rich tomato sauce are in the slow cookery, home made chocolates and fudge in the dining room.
Although I can and have made pastry of various types over the years, personally I think life's too short (not short crust before anyone chips in) to do so. Along with making pasta, noodles and bread.

We cook most things from scratch but do also buy ready meals for quickness. There are times when we simply don't have the time to cook from scratch unless we are happy to eat at midnight. Plus neither of us enjoys cooking much, the only time i enjoy cooking is Christmas day. |

It's just trial and error really depending on your taste, but I usually stick a couple of teaspoons in for a dozen Yorkies |

Cheers will give it a whirl. I like using horseradish (fresh or otherwise) in my yorkies. Takes it to another level mmmmmmmmm |

Not much as I'm quite lazy when it comes to cooking, but do make an awesome lentil n bacon soup n a lovely spag bol when I can be bothered.
Also make great chicken fajitas but can't really count that as I use the kits that come with ready made fajita mix n salsa in the box.
Really need to expand my repertoire of home cooked meals! |

This is true
Find it hard to get enthusiastic about cooking for one after a hard days graft though. |
