morning folks!
Who saw this on good morning?
For what appears to be the first time, the High Street Fashion Awards will include a Curvy 'size 14+' category in the High Street Fashion Awards - to acknowledge the efforts some of then make for the fuller figured lady.
I think it's a great idea - and there were some really lovely clothes shown - did anyone else see it? |

There may be some nice clothes but the cut and fit is still designed for slimmer people. With no boobs.
Trying to get a shirt which doesn't gape at the chest or look like a sack is not easy no matter what shop. And only size 14 anyway just with boobs! |

"Ive never seen a curvy section in a shop.
Plus size and petite but never a curvy one."
I've seen it in the US. I always have to buy my jeans in the curvey section because my butt is too big for the smaller sizes but my waist is too small for the bigger sizes. |

Bravissimo do shirts, sized for larger busts. Or get one tailored, I've had some made for under £100 each. |

Luckily plus size fashion is improving all the time. I just wish the high street would catch up with trends for us. It can only be a good thing that the industry is recognising the efforts of designers. It means there will be less retirement home chic and more tailored designs. |

"Under £100"??? Most teenagers can't afford that and why should they? George and Dorothy Perkins should do them. |

I was only offering advice. Just don't get one tailored if you can't afford it, then. |

I love, love, looooove Asos curve!
However, I do fine that fit of some things to be crap. If I get leggings or skinny jeans they alway, always, gape around my ankles. I have a fat arse and thighs but my calf's are quite slim and I don't have chunky ankles. It's the same for long sleeved things, I have small wrists so they're always gaping there too. They also assume that if you're fat then you must have massive boobs. Nope, I'm a size 16-18 and have c cup boobs which means some tops and dresses are baggy around my bust area or I have gaps under my arms as my boobs don't fill the space. I'm big in the middle, the rest of me is smaller (well not proper small, but you get what I mean) as I'm just a small framed women. Very frustrating indeed.

My thoughts exactly!
I used to be a size 16 and spent most of my time looking bloody awful - nothing fit right!
Hopefully this award will encourage high street fashion designers to put a lot more effort into that area! Xx |

I think we're a similar shape Courtney ask have the same issues! Next jeans fit best on me - so may be worth your while trying them if you haven't done already? X |

What im hearing on this thread isnt issues with larger women and clothes but women in general. Its about proportioning. You try going in a high street shop and finding a pair of trousers/jeans in a 25" leg. If i buy something in the petite range great in the arm length but they still think your legs are minimum 3" longer than mine |

I struggle with my eldest son. He's nearly 15 but the height of an "average" 16 yr old with the a 25in waist so around age 10/11. He lives in pull string jogging bottoms or chino type skinny trousers on tightest button with a belt.
I think the industry in general needs a complete sizing overhaul!!! |

I have the same problem with my youngest daughter who's tall but very slender. But many of her friends are much bigger round the waist than she is - so I think these days it's just nigh on impossible to find a uniform size/shape for ANY age! |

I have the opposite problem. Trousers are too short for me. Even "tall" ones in high street shops. They may fit OK in the shop, but I wash them and they shrink a bit and I have trousers with an unflattering hideous ankle gap.
And can't find bras size 38B either on the high street.
Women should just start all being the same shape really shouldn't they! |

Have you tried Gap? Their tall is 36" inner leg. Not sure if it's mainly online only. |

I wish they wouldn't make jeans with the crotch down to the knee caps I haven't got a flange that meets my knee caps and I'm sure many others haven't either.
For throw away fashion as I call it I love boohoo plus. River Island do plus size but not keen on any of it. |
