I know this isn't a dating site, but I'm sure we've all used one by now? Most likely one that's a bit fishy...or at least some of the people on there are.

Have you had any internet dating disasters? The standard is finding out they're either super shy or boring in person, friends of mine though have met people only to find they're either not the same guy/girl in the photos or they're a lot (decades!) older than shown

How has your experiences been?

Never used one, never will.

Dating is not something I seek.

Good luck to those who do.

Few years ago i met someone who didn't look like his pics, was way fatter. But thought fuck it, i am horny and gonna bang him. Ended up in a relationship with him somehow...turned out he was a compulsive liar...

Lesson learned; if they lie about who they are then they'll lie about anything.

Bumped into a previous date whilst on a date.

The guy I was with actually pointed him out for looking a lot like David Tennant...

Awkward.

Another 'funny' scenario: met a lass on a dating website, went out for a drink and kept in touch.

Few months later, after meeting a fb on here, he texts me to say we seem to have a 'friend' in common.

Turns out they were former fb's ..

The internet is a nightmare.

...Up on the Downs

Oh god yes - my first ever date in 25 years. I had my friend phone me at a certain time, I read all the rules - and I still ended up at dusk on an empty path in the middle of the woods with a strange man (even if he was a Chemistry professor from the Royal College!)

The second I put the phone down to my friend he lunged at me and applied what I can only describe as a suction device to my mouth! I actually thought 'Hmm, OK, maybe if I hang on here I can improve this, after 25 years I'd quite like the practice......'

But no, it was hopeless, 'suck like a Dyson' had a whole new meaning for me! He bought me tea and asked me to come back to his place for 'dinner', but I politely declined.....

Three months down the line I found out he was actually not who he said he was and was actually living 6 different lives....

Bad kissing the worst! A while back I met a girl and all was going well, went to kiss and she did some sort of propeller thing with her tongue CONSTANTLY. Didn't help that she tasted....cheesy :[

Didn't feel brave enough to discover what other flavours were on offer so didn't take it any further

Over the rainbow, under the bridge

Very early on I arranged to meet someone from a certain piscean site. Showed up to a hotel all dolled up. Texted him outside in the car as I was nervous. No reply. Several people staring at me sat in the car. Eventually the penny dropped and I drove home a little wiser. Months down the line he was still active on the site and probably messing other gullible newbs about.

Hearing this kind of story more and more often, even from a few friends on here. Guy gets full on, wants to meet at hotel, woman pays then is stood up :/

Probably more too it

Way back before fishy site even existed, and was on Wap (yeah before mobile internet), I met someone who turned out a mates little sister. Nothing happened but that didn't stop the filthy voice mails and stuff we left on my mates phone to wind him up.

Had a few no shows as well, fucking annoying as hell. Now I phone before I leave the house, and phone when minutes away, no shows always stop replying.

No real disasters.

One VERY boring date who still tried to kiss me when I said I didn't want to see him again because I didn't think we had anything in common.

More awkward rather than disaster...

I walled away from a very short and bad first marriage and tried internet dating for the first time in my life.

I decided to browse by exactly what I wanted. Age, location, profession, non-smoker, etc. Looked at all the possibles with photos and messages the best looking guy. We met up and we got on really well! He was a cheeky bastard though. One more date and then he had to work away for a few weeks.

I kept in touch but went on two other dates. One guy spent the entire date telling me about his ex girlfriend, and how anal sex doesn't hurt if you use enough lube.

The other guy was so boring, I couldn't wait to finish my drink and leave. It was obvious he couldn't stand me either. Instant personality clash!

The original cheeky bastard came back from his trip and we got together. Got married a year and a half later. Been together for over a decade now.

It does work occasionally!

Have just sat on the next table to a first date which van only be described as excruciating. Tapas restaurant and conversation dried up very early on. Then the vegetarian and meat eater tried to agree on dishes with no agreement whatsoever

Almost as bad as the date I once witnessed in Costa where he never offered her a drink and she never even took her coat of as he talked about himself.

Personally I've done alright, well at least compares to horror stories

I met a guy not long before I left London, I thought I had made it clear it was a short term thing since I was moving hundreds of miles away. To be honest I didn't really like him but it was easier to go with the flow than to finish things.

Unfortunately I wasn't clear enough as he travelled up to Edinburgh and turned up at my work to surprise me the day after I moved!

Years ago I arranged a date with a woman from a dating website, I turned up and couldn't get her to pick up her phone or answer a text, lucky I had arranged to meet her in town, so I text my mate who was in town with his sister and a friend of ours.

3 days later I got a call from her apologising for standing me up, but she had been in a traffic accident, that had left her with a fractured pelvis.

I sent flowers and said we could go out when she was feeling better, but the call never came

The last vanilla date I went on was from the site for lots of fishes. He seemed humorous, bright, and a well rounded chap etc.

When we met up he had the same coat and trousers as my dad ( no offence to my dad's dress sense) and spent an hour telling me about how hard his life was and his much he still loved his ex

Think the most awkward thing I've experienced from the fish dating site was back in 2014. I'd been speaking to a guy for about a week and then decided to meet him. Met him for a coffee and was chatting, somehow the chat turned to how long we had been single and as I started to say that I'd been dating this army guy for about 6 months but he blew me off just before he went away saying it was best not to have contact again even when he got back, I burst out crying, tried to sort myself out this guy asked if I was ok after giving me a tissue and it made me worse, was sobbing so much like when you can't catch your breath and my nose was running! Still didn't put the guy off though, I said I had to go home then but still hear off this other guy now and again asking if I'm over that guy yet!

"spent an hour telling me about how hard his life was and his much he still loved his ex "

Again, another familiar story! A friend dated someone who went on and on about his ex. He was a serial date - cheat and move on to the person he'd just cheated with guy, but his ex was the first to dump him before he could find a new model. Maybe it was a shock to his system...

I had a date out of the blue one night and I'm waiting outside the entrance to a wine bar kind of place and there coming towards me was a really nice looking woman who I recognised from the photos but she looked even better .She got about 20ft infront of me and my phone rang in my pocket. I just took the phone and looked at it and it was Karen my friend so I quickly answered it just to tell her I was on a date and she was screaming down the phone " Hes Dead ..hes Dead I don't know what to do.

Well I said whos dead and she said my boyfriend.....I found him dead in bed when I went to his place.....and then she began screaming and crying .By this time this lady was right in front of me listening to a woman screaming down the phone and had a very mistrustful expression on her face.

It got worse as Karen was asking me to phone her parents to pick her up as she was too distraught to drive and she couldn't face telling them.

I agreed and then kissed my date on the cheek and said Hi.

I went to the bar and got some drinks and told her the story about Karen and her dead boyfriend but she was having none of it and called me a wanker and walked out ......I was so embarrassed and upset about Karen that I didn't have time to think ......

Ive had a few over the past year. One guy was a farmer, drove me to a gig on the first date about40 miles away. Proceeded to say he had taken2 pills and would I like one... i didnt. that was the end of that.

The other, was chatting to for ages seemed ideal, a bit unusual, kept chickens, liked gardening, free spirited. Then on the day we were supposed to meet said one of his hens had run off and he had to find her.

Then there was another who I dated a couple of times who brought some teenagers socks he wanted me to wear on the date.

Then there was the guy who, after all this bad luck i started talking to. He was a lifecoach on his profession on his profile, and local. So I thought I will ask him to take a look at my profile and give me some advice on how to find someone nice. He agreed to help me, so we ended up chatting every day. nothing sexual, but i felt i had made a friend for life. I will save the rest of the story another time. but its been crazy and it has actually worked out rather well...

I'm a walking dating site disaster. I generally don't do all that well, or I attract girls with blood fetishes, fiancées, interests in the occult and couples looking for threesomes.

I had one date, she didn't show up. I however, had a great time. I thought I was wonderful company.

The only thing that I have came across on dating sites so far, are disasters.

A)The ladies would stop replying out of the blue after weeks of chatting

B)They would only be interested in banter

C)They would be a so called 'starfish' of conversation

D)They would arrange a date and then go MIA few days before

E)They would use me to trade pics, though I am to blame for that myself for being so willingful...

As you can see, for me online dating was nothing but a disaster. I do hope it does take a turn at some point , as I'm not a one that gives up easily.

First person I ever met off the internet was from the fishy site.

He turned out to be a pimp and a compulsive lying drama queen.

"Highlights" included him trying to get me to cam with him purely to make ££.

Continuously checking his phone to arrange when his girls were using his place for clients.

Getting jealous of a male friend of mine and writing crap on my Facebook about him being my boyfriend.

Having to ring an ambulance when he told me he'd taken an overdose one night, then going silent. He had the gall to complain that the ambulance folk had woken him up the next day. (No sorry for pulling that stunt).

Claiming his landlord had beaten him up cus he was in rent arrears, and could I lend him some money?

I've wised up a lot since then.

I don't use Facebook, Twitter, kik, whatsapp etc many people do, but as boring as I sound in my defence Fab has everything and much more! What a fabulous site this is

"I seem to attract men who aren't over their bloody ex's

Do you find it's harder as you get older?

They're either married or not over 'someone '

I'm 36 and find dating a hell of a lot harder than in my 20's it's hard to find a bloke my age that wants kids as well....and its in the back of my head as my eggs are going to scramble soon "

I could offer my services in cooking your eggs, but I already have one and I can't move away from the little devil. I love him to bits.

near Merry Hill shopping centre

I had a near miss many years ago, some of us had been in chat and because of travel issues two dates got crossed I meet up with a girl someone else had been due to and he met the girl I was originally going to meet, I had a nice little relationship for a few years, the girl he met and went on a few dates with turned out to be a nutter and stalked his next girl friend, nailed her cat to her door and all kinds of totaly mental stuff, close shave or what!

Oh I have used a couple in the past and I met a few blokes from them but I think my worst was when I went over a guys house last summer (we didn't have a lot of money) and his house was like a house of horrors!! My ex husband even googled how to make a quick exit from his house and how to get home but I had, had far to much to drink by the time I realised his mother was like something out of the Texas chainsaw massacre!!

I'm still paying the fucking fine off that I got from the bloody dartford crossing for the privilege of driving to north London!!!!

No I didn't see him again despite him asking for a second one!!

G x
