Another thread on here got me thinking (difficult to believe I know, but but bare with me).

As an option to community service, and a requirement to claim unemployment benefits the said individuals could be placed in a field adjacent to motorways, main roads etc. With the sole aim of benefiting both the country and the word as a whole.

Now this is the plan. Set up in said areas, static bicycle type mini electricity generators, where the aforsaid individuals could pedal and generate a given amount of electricity to subsidise their benefits of fit their crime in the case of community servise.

The result, green energy, a contribution to society plus the exercise required would surely have a positive "kickback" on the NHS.

Just a thought.

Torquay

Perhaps when Norman Tebbit said 'Get on your bike' he was thinking exactly what you have suggested?

But in order for it to be a genuine Tory led idea there has got to be guys with bullwhips lashing the bare backs of the cyclists?

That would also serve to make the wretched unemployed cycle faster, there fore creating more energy at the electricity substations....and people who hate the unemployed could pay for the chance to be the guy with the bullwhip?

Love it

"can't see how it could possibly fail "

The plan may need a little "tweeking" I`m sure, the the basis for further investigation is there.

I hope the goverment brings this in

and that the OP loses there job and has to suffer it

not everyone on benefits is a time waster or lazy so and so,

have been on benefits after been made redundant, am now working for myself after 6 months

hard work it was, getting the contacts, getting thefinance, and now its all been worthwhile

do not EVER make the mistake of thinking all on JSA or whatever benefit are lazy bastards, thats just what the Media and goverment want you to believe

That’s a great idea, they might even create enough energy to at least keep the real criminals in our jails stocked up on energy for their LCD TV’s and X box’s.

Should go one step further and take their measly £65 per week off them so the likes of Ian Huntley can upgrade to a PS3

While I’ve no time fro benefit cheats its easy to see that they are minnows in the grand scheme of things, it tax evasion that’s our biggest culprit.

Oooop`s, I certainly wasn`t making a sweeping generalisation. As I should have stated "The long term unemployed". You obviously don`t belong in this catagory as you`ve made the brave decision to be the master of your own destiny, alas many others don`t have the bottle to do the same.

PS. I`ve also been self employed for the past 23 years, and been fortunate to never had to claim any form of benefits. The thread was aimed at those individuals that have no intention of contributing to society in any way, shape or form.

And yes life`s hard at times.
