How did you get your name?

Im not asking people to disclose their real names, but just wondering if there are any funny stories to how their parents came to their choice of name for you?

My name came because i was laying heavy on my mothers bladder and everywhere she went there was a paper towel dispenser with this name on it..

Apparently my mum wanted 2 boys. The firstbwas to be called Dean Martin and the 2nd was going to be called Jerry Lewis.

I was the 2nd child but my mother bailed on the idea of calling me Jerry. Instead....as she was a big fan of Basil Brush also I got the name I did

Not sure which is worse!

Pretty boring story for an unusual name. I could understand them choosing it if they were big fleetwood Mac fans or Welsh!

I prefer the one I ended up with, partly cos my biological dad was a git.

I used to dislike being called by my full name, but now I appreciate that it is a beautiful name. Not really a rare name but not particularly common either.

Kimberly sounds like it really suits you

Most casual friends tend to call me Tash, whereas family & friends I've known for a long time call me Tasha instead, but the only people who really call me Natasha are an ex & his family. Like you though, I always tend to introduce myself as Natasha.

No, but my name is jonas, meaning "dove". I did some research on my name:

Because in ancient greece it was believed that birds were sent by gods as a sign to people. From this it is assumed that the name Jonas means a peaceful being. As a variation of Jonah, it can be considered to mean 'accomplishing', and a 'gift from God'.

My mom wanted my name for my older sister, but dad thought it was just too mean to give such an unusual name to a child. Four years later I got it...Top Ten Girl's name for ten years, and Top 25 for another ten years more.

I once had a class with 15 classmates....half girls, half boys, and 5 with my name.

I still like it though.

Mine is pretty similar. My sister is 13 months older than me. My parents were convinced I was going to be a boy. They had a name sorted. I was born and they just added an a to the boys name to make the girls name

My parents were teachers so they have to pick a name that was unusual enough, it didn't remind them of one of a billion nightmare kids they'd taught.

And my "unusual" name is actually very common now.

If I was a boy however, I would be called Tim.

I'm very grateful I'm a girl.

My first name is fairly well known, biblical and came about from an Elton John song that was in the charts around the time of my birth.

My middle name is far less common and I've yet to meet or even hear of anyone else sharing it,one of the reasons I like it I suppose.

Ossian,a character from a collection of poems by old(1760)Scottish poet James MacPherson.

So aye,as middle names go....I like mine
