What? If someone's antagonising you, just ignore them.

OP is not to cause distress to anybody who has suffered or is suffering.

I am just highlighting the point of medical diagnises being dismissed by unqualified people.

I do understand that a childre with ADHD for example often behaves in an uncontrolled manner and that behaviour can be seen as poor parenting.

I do realise that in the current cllimate it has one a few occasion been used as an excuse for poor child behaviour.

I appreciate that not all "naughty" childen have ADHD,

But none of the above would justify dismissing a genuine professional diagnosis of a cluster of behaviours and physical symptoms !

Thanks.

TBH I am not feeling antagonised or even antagonistic.

I have battled with schools and the education system for years and have come across a lot of genuine misunderstanding so this is not a surprise for me. As I stated, I do appreciate people struggling to understand behaviour that so often looks like the parents are not incontrol or cannot be bothered.

I am just trying to give a genuine perspective from somebody who has dealt with the medical world, the school and university system and who feels for every undiagnosed ADHD person, youngster and adults alike.

I just want to add that I have very fortunate with mine, lots of battles and threafter lots of understanding and support and really, I need not worry about my child now - I just feel so sorry for anybody with a genuine mental health diagnosis where the symptoms are misunderstood by some parts of society.

I agree. There is no such thing as depression.

People just need to cheer the fuck up a bit.
