Since there's so many guys on here its certainly not gonna hurt your chances having a public one. We'd never message a guy first without one on his profile that's for sure. |

Up to you if you want to put it public, I wouldn't.
As a male you're highly likely to be making first contact anyway, include a clear face pic in your first message, or within a few. Or even repeat for the first few messages to remind her who you are. |

In my experience it's very important. It means the difference between being rejected for not having a photo and being rejected due to not being their type and being rejected anyway.

Having it public is your choice. I'm not too fussed but my face pics are public (when my profile isn't hidden because I'm taking a break from meeting) so I expect to see one in return even if by pm only |

As long as you have a clear face pic in private to send with a message just show whatever you're comfortable with on your profile.
I like to see a good selection of recent quality photos, and I also show the same despite having none on public display x

Also you'll probably be quizzed on how you expect to meet if you can't accommodate or travel, so details of that? |
