What compliments have you had in your life that were genuinely meaningful for you?

This can be about looks, personality or something you've done or do.

I like any compliments I can get, and I only give compliments I actually mean. I know women get a shedload of all kinds of compliments and you know most of them are what's been said to a hundred other women but very few receive a compliment from me. Not that anyone cares about compliments from me, just saying how I approach it lol

the ones that mean the most are ones from strangers who say how polite and mature my daughter is..

but ones regarding myself have to be about weight loss and my determination to want to get better

Yes....compliment my daughter and you compliment me...

Otherwise, there's this sketch by some comedian I don't recall called "girls who read" (I think). My partner sent that to me and said that's how he sees me.... I was made up

Compliments about my intelligence, sweetness or hair are always nice. But probably the best compliment I have had was

'I've never met anybody like you.'

People will often say to me on Fab that I'm such a nice guy or a lovely guy. That's always nice to hear as it's obviously something I aim to be. That gives you a warm feeling inside.

A lady friend said to me just the other day when I smiled at her that I should smile more. She liked the way I looked when I smiled. It may sound silly but that blew me away. I can't remember anyone EVER saying something so touching to me, to my face.

When people praise my children I could almost burst with pride and see it as the best of compliments.

As for me someone once said I was funny and I liked it

when I was pushing my son in his pram an old lady in a shop said is that your baby, isn't he intelligent, the way he is looking round at the lights and everything, he was only 3 months old.

me and my son was watching telly once when he was little and I said I wish I looked as nice as judy loe, and he said I did. My dad said I looked like one of the girls from s angels, which was nice because my mum said I looked awful, I was 19, when I told my husband he said I didn't look like her. It didn't matter I just thought it was nice of my dad to say something nice for a change.

When my children or other people say I'm a good mum.

I'm often told that I'm good at my job, that the children benefit from me looking after them. That I'm a good SENCO ( it's not actually called that now but my brain isn't working well after 6 weeks on the sick).

People often tell me i am very kind and thoughtful.

I have also been complimented on body parts but I don't belive them lol.

If its a compliment at me, I like 'lovely smile' or ' you're so funny'

Well some of the physical compliments on here are very flattering, but the ones I like best relate to the unseen - my personality and my character!

Not the eye candy but the soul food.

One of the biggest compliments I've received was when someone close to me told me that they loved me for who I was, just the way I am. It meant a lot at the time as I was a bit of a mess back then, very insecure and self conscious.

But the biggest compliment wasn't even a compliment. I was sat in Waterstones one day waiting for my then-boyfriend to finish work. A woman came to sit next to me with her two dogs and she looked really upset, so we got talking and she told me about all the really horrible stuff going on in her life, and by the time we finished talking she was smiling and had even laughed a couple of times, and she thanked me for taking the time out to sit & have a chat. Obviously I've never seen her since but it's something that's stayed with me, and I'm glad that I helped her to unburden I guess.

On my own for one lunch service and had a table of 4 business man, all had three courses. Afterwards front of house said that table would like to see the chef.

As I approached said table, all four French men gave a standing ovation and raised their glasses to me.

Compliments like this is so much more rewarding than any food critic or rosettes or Michelin stars (ok probably not the stars) can bring.

Can die happy now

Most guys I know hate being called cute or adorable.

I'm not in the realms of handsome or anything like that so I will happily take adorable.

My aunt once told me I'm what my dad could have been if he had tried harder and stopped chasing women

My daughter told me a deep dark (well not so much dark) secret, because she didn't know anyone else who would understand like I do (I cried)

I love it when I'm told I'm funny

I like it when I'm told I'm charming

And submisives who call me cute, are in for a very rough ride indeed

Not good at taking compliments, they embarrass me a little, but from the people I meet regular on here, I am ok with......now.

From friends and family, I know they are genuine, so yes I know they always mean them.....
