"Best ways to destress. Who's got some strange or unusual tips?
What works for you?"
Very easy one this;
get on a MV F4 and ride a fast twisty road, stress??? what stress, enjoy the ride
or, a weekend skydive
but best of all, 6 foot surf, enjoy the king of sports - surfing |

It depends what us causing the stress.
If its something that you can get rid of then do....is it work?
Some thing physical seems to work for most people....swim...run...gym...cycle...untill it hurts beccause you get the endorphins and the pain makes you feel alive ....
Sex helps too |

Oops! Meant to add the music is Jazz, mostly Pharoah Sanders and Roland Kirk. Helps to gather my focus. |

It's stress I can't remove from my life. And I get no alone/away time, which is the big problem. Then I feel guilty for wanting alone time. More stress. Vicious cycle.
I did a workout already. Felt OK doing it and stress back through the roof again. |

Honestly meditation does help, takes some time to get into but keep at it and you will learn to calm your mind and let go of the things you can't change. Lots of good videos on you tube for beginners. Some great books out there as well. |

I have a constant.
Its the gym.
It will always be there.
It will not question me.
It will make me happy.
It will make me forget.
It will sort out my demons.
100kg is 100kg. Some days heavy sometimes not. I just accept it as its unforgiving. |

If its something long term that is in your life then stress relief can only be a tempory relief.
You will have to learn how to compartmentalise it and try to some how make time to get the tempory relief. Perhaps in time you will be able to free yourself from the cause x |

The obvious answer is sex , but a walk or listening to music can be helpful too .
It's also worth considering this saying at times - Stress is caused by giving a fuck - and there are times when simply not giving a fuck can be helpful too .

I put on something upbeat to listen to and either stack the muck heap to perfection or sweep the entire yard, exercise and actual proof you can change something even if it is just making a pile if shit look tidy! |

I used to get out on the bike and thrash it, 10 minutes of cycling used to relax me quite well.
When I was on the motorcycle, I found taking corners quicker than I would normally do. I don't mean speed, but instead of doing 10 mph do 15 and get a knee down. Or take to a national speed limit road and enjoy it. |

I go for a walk and get some fresh air, and remove myself from the stressor (perhaps that means avoiding my emails for a moment). Sometimes it's worth taking a step back. |

Yeah I'd tend to agree. Changing your perspective on a situation can do a lot to help change how you feel about things.
Take fab forum posts for instance!
I appreciate there's going to be some things that won't work for, but it may help your situation. Eitherway keep your chin up a best you can.

Very well said. It's self-evident that some people can cope with huge amounts of stress, while others buckle quickly, it's largely down to attitude. |

Not so much for stress, but general depression... Ive started going for walks at night, through the parks. When the sky's clear its so calming and peaceful as nobody about, no noise or anything, would imagine that would help with stress too. |

Well you're obviously a much better evolved and more accomplished person than me then if it's that easy for you. I'm obviously weak and failing myself and those around me. It's obviously just because after 8 years of this crap I can't always shove a smile on my face and pretend I'm ok. |

I get stressed quite easily, especially if I have to be around lots of people, so being alone for a couple of hours helps me. Meditation is great when I can motivate myself to do it, but the best 3 things I found are:
Lego
Jigsaw puzzles
Watching blackhead squeezing videos on YouTube (I know, I'm gross) |

But that's what you're saying I should do?
Really confused.
Well I phoned my mum. That helped. And I managed to get some sleep. Sleep helps.
And I have a surprising, and amazingly lovely forumite to rant to who really shouldn't listen to it all. I wonder what he did in a previous life to deserve that? Poor bloke. |

Drinking lots of water! Simple but effective. Sufficient hydration improves mood far more than people think, and people are often dehydrated, especially if they're living off tea and coffee all day. |

A friend recently introduced me to the "100 day" challenge. Document something that makes you happy or that you are proud of that you did that day for 100 days. It helps to prove to yourself that even when you don't feel your best you still do things that are worth meriting I'm on day 7 and it's helped me to feel a little less stressed at night
Hope you manage to feel better within yourself soon chick xx
