You missed out "She was called Ella", so the punchline didn't work so well.

Yep just a more subtle way of flirting and it breaks all language barriers, not sure if winking could be offensive in some parts of the world though? Different cultures have some strange meanings for things we would consider innocent.

It could be pretty innocuous. I wink quite alot, I often throw one in during greeting. I do it to men and women too.

I was on a bus in London one time with my other half. We get on and sit upstairs at the front, adjacent to two men; a quick assessment finds them both doable.

We're going on the route and I notice that the guy nearest me is looking at me.

Never one to pass up a challenge, I stare at him.

He smiles, I wink.

We're silently flirting, next to our partners, for the rest of the journey.

Nothing happened, clearly, but I did enjoy that.

I don't think I'd realise if I was being winked at...

I would probably assume the other person had something in their eye

Where in Fuerteventura were you?

The nudism is more prevalent on certain beaches or in certain areas.

And finally yes I wink. If I do it, it is normally to show the person I winking at that what I am saying isn't true or is a joke. I also wink to show I understand what someone has said without saying it as I don't necessarily want everyone to know.

I haven't used winking to flirt as far as I can remember.

Jandia beach is a naturist beach but because there is no segregation nudity is interspersed amongst those wearing clothing. The hotels unless specifically naturist, tend to be less likely to have topless sunbathing than there was during the eighties and nineties. It seems to be less 'fashionable' now. There are some areas that are more heavily populated with naturists but hey tend to be more secluded, than the main beaches like Jandia and Sotovento. That said last time I was there, there was considerably more nudity on the Fuerteventura beaches than other places I've visited. However my last time was 9 years ago.

I think a wink is an invitation to share something fun, and not always sex.

I recall my Grandad would tease my Grandma till she would be fit to snap. And he's wink at us grandchildren before doing it...

It was his antidote to being nagged lol
