Well this thread died an early death, just goes to show that St Georges day just isn't celebrated as much as St Patrick's, St David's or St Andrew's which is a shame |

Really? Glad we don't do Facebook!! I just don't understand what's going on nowadays! I've seen no flags or banners out, no pubs promoting or celebrating St Georges day! Why do we get persecuted for showing patriotism???
Thankyou for the birthday wishes |

I think it's because a lot of people are realizing that those flags we all wave in our different countries are not there for our benefit. They are there to divide us and the rich, ruling elite must laugh at people waving the flags of their own division.
No problem with loving where your from but a lot of people are becoming more educated as to what it all really means and stands for.
We need to move beyond flags and nations and more towards seeing the whole planet as one "country".
We are one.
Flags divide us.

In a perfect world you would be right, but unfortunately this world is far from perfect, we are English and our flag is the St Georges flag! If you choose not to embrace it for whatever reasons you have that's your prerogative. Us, we're proud to be English which arms to be a very rare thing in this day and age! |

I'm glad it's rare. Patriotism is a bad thing. I'm proud to be born on planet Earth.
Einstein said something along the lines of " Nationalism teaches us to hate people we've never met and take credit for things we had nothing to do with".
You said it's "your" flag. But it's not. You didn't design it or create it. It was there long before you were born.
Animals don't wave flags and they get on ok. They're just part of Earth. So are we but we don't all realize it.
We don't live in a perfect world but that doesn't mean we have to do what the rich tell us to do. We can be more united as a species like adults or be manipulated by people more rich and powerful than us. If you choose to be manipulated then not much anyone can do.
Also, I heard St George wasn't even English.

I said originally that there's nothing wrong with loving where your from. I don't think you know much about life if that's what you think.
Pride is linked directly to ego/identity/self image which are not healthy things to have. |

That's just rude.
Why try and force St Georges day on me by wishing me happy St Georges day?
Maybe people don't wave flags anymore because they see they type of people that still do and don't want to be associated with that level of self inflicted ignorance and insecurity. |

It's not healthy. It creates emotional attachments which makes it difficult to accept and process new concepts. It also creates other problems mentally which translate to social problems and social stagnation.
Not sure why you keep wishing me happy st georges day. Are you EDL or something?
Also, St George wasn't English.

Oh no your bored!! How will I cope knowing your bored!!
You must be EDL or BNP or something.
It's that very attitude that puts people off waving flags these days. Because the people that still do are usually right wing, forceful, a bit dumb, a bit racist (sometimes).

No matter what your beliefs with that last post you have lowered yourself to the deepest depth with what you have said. Regardless of my opinions you was making a good, clean argument. But with the wrongful labelling in your last post you have exposed yourself in a very negative light and therefore lost all credibility in representing your side of the argument. Therefore any further posts you now make on the subject will not be taken in the context of a valid or sensible comment toward the debate but the view of an angry little man who reverted to wrongful and false accusations of the lowest kind! |
