Bad grammar
Am heavily dyslexic and I try my best..
But when I read on this forum, social media and so on... When people not accidentally don't use the correct grammar..
But use BAD grammar and text speak and so on..
Examples I've seen in past 10 mins
Thru - not Through?
Severed - not served?
Culter- not culture..?
Best one..
Vinegar - really you slide your c**k deep into her Vinegar...
 brave brave man !
Does this annoy anyone else?

I'm not a particularly judgemental person and also make a lot of mistakes in my posts here. Autocorrect and posting when im tired are both major influences.
I'm not trying to get to know and shag most of the forum posters and I'm content if I get to understand others.
There's likely an issue behind those who are very uptight about grammar, so I'll just let them get on with it. |

I struggle really hard with spelling and punctuation. If it wasn't for auto correct half of the stuff I write you probably wouldn't understand.
I always have struggled with it. I don't find it any harder to read something that isn't spelt right most of the time it's easier as it has been wrote the way you would say it. So it makes more sense to me.
Not everyone is 100% perfect. Everyone has flaws but this seems to be a big issue on here. If you met someone in a club woukd you get them to do a spelling test before playing. No probably not so I don't see what the problem is with it as long as you are able to communicate. |

no wonder all the young ones and the old ones are resorting to text speak ...
its a lot less complicated

I remember learning them when I was about 12. I loved English so I guess that's why I've never forgotten them  |

Bad spelling or poor grammar doesn't bother me too much, but extremely shortened messages from someone with no photos and no previous messages or conversation are just being lazy. The last one I had like this just said one word:

Well it was invented for a reason. Should shorthand never of been invented as it is exactly the same thing.
I don't view txt speak as a generation specific thing. We have had people a lot older than us message in txt speak and vice versa. |

I learnt shorthand at school...but I'm fooked if I could use it on here... so I disagree that it is exactly the same thing...it was a written shortcut language that consisted of dots and lines and dashes.... so absolutely nothing like textspeak |

It's not just young people. Don't generalise. In fact, the worst spelling and grammar I've seen on here comes from an older generation. I remember because I thought to myself "how can you go through life without a basic grasp of syntax". |

Auto correct on mobiles, spelling correct facility on PC's - we don't need to think about spelling as much any more. So it'll only degenerate further.
Having said that I'm still impressed by the number of teens who stick to reading paperbacks.
A mis spelt or mis placed word can make for funny texting/messages so it doesn't worry us. |

so it was a written sortcut exactly the same as txt speak was when it was first introduced. it was introduced because you had a max no of letters available to you.
it has only caught on because of the use of elctronic devices and the need to speed things up.
if ipads and smart phones were around when short hand was tought then we would probably all be messaging in dots and dashes.
why do you think there is new words added to the dictionary every year? because the language evolves the same as it has done for years and the same as it always will do. |

I don't care, there are more important things in life than if I've stuck a little tadpole in the right place, and those who say "I read it and because there was no apostrophe, it didn't make any sense" that's just being pedantic in my book.
I'm dyslexic, it's amazing that I still pick up a book and read, I have to read words and sometimes sentences twice before it sinks in, my spelling is all to shit, and if I write something by hand, I'm not writing I'm drawing the word if that makes any sense, so it takes me twice as long, I will have read this post back twice before posting, and that's still no guarantee that it will all be spelled correctly.
I face this on a daily basis, so how do you think it feels, when along comes I'm so important grammar nazi to point out my mistakes?
While you're proof reading the whole of fab, you could be doing something else with that time, like arranging a meet, or answering mail, or writing the definitive history of pockets.

I think it's not right to criticise people just for the odd mistake and so on. I've spent most of my working life helping others to improve their written skills.
Sometimes I see posts and will think "that person's dyslexic".
However, if someone is asking why they can't get meets and for profile improvements, I think it's ok to point out that the text may be the issue if it's so bad that it's hard to understand. I always add the caveat that the person may have a specific condition that explains this.
Pointing it out isn't a criticism against the person, just an explanation why they might struggle. I've seen loads of people asking for help and the text is very difficult to understand.
I've worked with hundreds, probably thousands of dyslexic people over the years and been a staunch defender of them (I've had lots of people query/downplay its existence). I have seen some dyslexic people who made no effort and used it as a reason to write lazily though. The above post shows what can be done with effort.
