I'm a long term sufferer with them from as young as I can remember, constantly backwards and forwards to the Drs trialing different meds to no avail.
I'm not a big piercing person, only have the standard ear piercing but I'm considering the one that's supposed to help reduce them (not sure what it's called) as any fellow suffers had it done and found it to make a difference?

I've not had it done.
The biggest factor that I've managed to control with results upon my migraine experiences is my lifestyle - generally managing my stress loads, regulating my sleep pattern as much as possible and eating as well as I can - including frequently.
Hope your ear treatment works if you go for it!  |

I was a migraine sufferer from my late teens through to my late 20's ..,
They were real humdingers too...red mist, flashing lights, the whole works...
They stopped when I started wearing glasses and now I don't even get a headache very often... I've never heard of this piercing cure though but if it works and I still suffered I would seriously consider it |

Have you had a referral to a neurologist who specialises in migraine? If not insist on one. Plenty of other ideas you can try.
There's also a new treatment, either a nerve block injection at base of skull or small operation to implant a stimulation unit for a nerve that can be the trigger.

I started getting them few years back, someone recommended st. John's wort from Holland and Barrett, worked for me.
Although did go through all other avenues as well; reduced caffeine, got eyes checked, drank more water...

Yea I've seen a neurologist, 5 years ago though, so it was a while ago and I've never been offered those new treatments so could be worth asking for a new referral |

A friend suffered big time with them.
She had the piercing a couple of months ago. All she has mentioned since is a mild headache twice. |

You'll lose nothing by asking and getting it checked, new drugs and therapies are coming out all the time. |

Magnesium is very useful in migraine prevention, and also aids sleep, as it's a relaxant. I noticed a significant reduction in my migraines when I was taking it. Have to remember to take it in the evening though, a few hours after food, otherwise it can mean you're running to the toilet (definitely proves it's a relaxant if taken too soon after food!). |

Daith piercing. Incredibly hit and miss..... supposed to be an acupuncture point, so may as well try it - if it doesn't work, least you can buy some cool new jewellery for it 
You been on Sumitriptan? (nasal spray, tablets or injections (jab a pen in your thigh jobbies)).
You would need to get your GP to refer you to the pain clinic to get the ONB (occipital nerve blocks) or Trigger Point Injections - but the TPI are only if you constantly have pain in one spot.. so unlikely the trigger point jabs will be effective for you, you will need to have a bit of history before you even get to the ONS (occipital nerve stimulator) implant stage.
There is some hope that alternative treatments MIGHT work, but I cannot discuss them here.

I had an ocular migraine 3 days ago scared the life out of me. It lasted 30 or so mins but then went into a full migraine ended up in the Royal Gwent hospital for the day |

I have been considering getting this faith piercing, after hearing about it a few months ago. General feedback was that it stopped them for most people but not for everyone, so it's early days to say for sure whether it really does work.
I have been getting migraines since teens, so around 40 years without long periods without them, so have come to know what most triggers are. Sumatriptan was the only pill which could possibly have any effect to clear it, until I was getting rebound migraines from the pill, so a similar one, Naratriptan works now. To help stop one as you sense one coming on but not actually in progress is the pink Migraleve pills which have anti sickness medication in. Also, temazepam eases it for me and helps to sleep whilst the migraine is pounding away, relentlessly.
Also, not an actual cure, but drinking plenty of water throughout does help. I drink plenty anyway, but a migraine or the medication seems to dehydrate me more. The pure coconut water has stopped three migraines of mine, but I can't say for sure if it was just a coincidence.
So, next step is either the piercing or the specialised Botox injections, which I have also heard are effective. A bit expensive, seeing as they only last months, whereas a piercing is permanent. |

Acupuncture didn't work for me. I had the piercing when I was younger too, my migraines were more frequent (2-3 a week), and didn't notice any decrease in frequency. |

Wife has the Botox injections in her head and neck. Can't say 30 injections every two months is my cup of tea but seems to make it much better. Free on the Nhs but specialist treatment by her neurologist so you have to be referred |

I too suffer migraines.
Headaches start on a regular basis, then progress to migraines, for me I go to the osteopaths and get them to crack my neck, relief then for ages..

Cluster headache sufferer here.. on amitriptyline for them. Ive had 3 migraines.. last one being 16 days long and postdrome for 6 months. 
Ask about amitriptyline I'm only on 10 mg a day but mostly works for me. |

Iv suffered with them since I was 17 ... Part of my life now but I'm lucky they have got less as Iv got older , I had an Indian Head massage once - the pain after was bloody terrible - but I didn't have any migraine or headaches for almost 4 months after ... Iv had more silent migraines lately which are really strange , but no pain.
Stress is a big factor for me ... So I tried to relax more

As someone who works in a tattoo/piercing studio, I can't see any scientific reason it would do anything more than any other piercing.
We've had loads of people ask about this recently and say that its helped loads, but based on our understanding of it all, it mostly seems to be a placebo thing x |

I feel your pain I get cluster headaches this time every year for about three months they are horrible things |

They avoid the face and some of them are in the forehead . It tells you all about it on the migraine trust website or google Botox for migraines they show the images of where the injections go |
