I like all sorts but if by profile picture you mean your main avatar then the major thing to consider if you want to stand out is whether or not it grabs attention as a small pic icon. A splash of colour or stark black and white. Not too busy. Making sure you stand out from the background. That kind of thing. I flip flop my avatar all the time as I get bored of one but I am not really aiming to get noticed. If I was I would probably take or display a much simpler picture. |

I don't know what particular type of shot appeals but as it's only a small glimpse of you I would imagine that it should be a bit teasing, something that stands out from others, making the person want to click on your profile to see more of you which is half the battle really.
Just don't disappoint with the rest of your profile and pics otherwise it's pointless. |

It felt a bit too facey for public. |

I change mine three times a day I think. Butterfly effect (it's actually so more people in my local area look at my profile and steady my declining ego, "ooh I haven't seen him before; oh it's HIM" |

a quandary, could you change my mind? |
So many different options, put something up of you! Not your third leg!
If you are not getting profile views, socials or meets try something different.
They might like one thing now and another in a little while. |
