Non smokers not wanting to meet/date smokers I can understand for obvious reasons.
But drinkers not wanting to meet non drinkers?
Can't understand the reasoning behind that one myself ?
Any ideas on this?

I have asked why before.
Response was... "I like to have a few drinks and enjoy myself and I couldn't do that with someone who doesn't drink"
Still find that a bit strange? |

If someone needs to have a few drinks to enjoy themselves then I'd be very wary of meeting them. Yes, we may have a drink when out but it's very rare if at a club or meeting others socially. Her |

I understand it....some non drinkers can be a bit..... Opinionated about how evil alcohol is. It would depend on the person but i wouldn't feel comfortable and certainly wouldn't enjoy a glass of wine with someone sipping on their water looking down their nose at me. This is an extreme example but it does happen so i can fully understand why some would choose not to meet non drinkers if part of their meets is enjoying a drink together as well as the Sex. |

i need a sleep or something, read that totally wrong.
they probably can't socialise without drinking and don't enjoy meeting sober people, coz i find it boring the other way round and don't enjoy meeting people who drink and can relate. |

Yep. That's the attitude i meant. Why do some non-drinkers assume that people that drink always have to get pissed to have a good time? Many people like to relax with A drink. Singular. Just the one without being made to feel like an alcoholic! |

This is what I can't understand?
I don't drink or smoke but it doesn't bother me in the slightest if people I'm socialising with enjoy a drink and smoke.
But then again I'm pretty easy going believe it or not |

i didn't say anyone was d*unk. but even if someone has one drink i still can't relax around people who need alcohol, plus don't like the smell of them either. why would is socialise with someone who smells awful to me?

Depends which flavour of non drinker it is.. I know people who are allergic to alcohol, ex alcoholics. Some people just dont like the taste. Or they could be muslim. Big difference from the 'anti drink' faction.
From a personal point of view I would be less inclined to meet someone if lots of alcohol was involved..but I like to be in control of myself and I find after more than a couple I lose some sensation with sex.
If I am going to enjoy somebody I should want to do it stone cold sober |

That's why I'm trying to explaining to you a possible reason. Many non drinkers are very judgemental about people who drink and assume they need to get pissed to be able to socialise. You see this attitude time and again on the forum. So i can understand why some would choose not to bother meeting those that could potentially have that attitude. It's just another filter and i really don't get why you don't understand that or even why you have the need to understand it?
Anyway. I could be completely wrong anyway I was just trying to provide a possible reason. |

From my point of view im not bothered about people drinking around me but I would be nervous about falling off the wagon or being incouraged to drink. This has already happened by some "friends" xxx |

i don't enjoy that environment either. feels weird sitting with drinkers when you're not having one, probably because other people point out you're not drinking and you should be, lol.
hope you keep up with the cutting down.

Polite way of saying "youre not for me".
Although tea totalers are much like vegans and seem to never shut up about it.
Winder if you could play spot the non drinker like spot the vegan |

Says a lot about their need for a drink and they need company and the approval for it!
The other week someone got d*unk on a first date with me. I don't drink and don't mind others doing so but on a first date??!! Plus enough references to drink and drinking throughout the night told me it's too much of a crook and the incompatibility is glaring. |

I know, i'm just not comfortable in drinking situations any more, they aren't me or a part of my life now and i'm happy to keep it that way.
I don't even miss drinking and am not tempted to drink myself, gave up 20 years ago now and well past recovery stage. It's just not a situation i enjoy being in and would spoil any meet i have.
So i can relate to how some people might not be comfortable with non-drinkers and not want to meet them, because you've got to be compatible socially if meeting socially. |
