".......is it really or is that what "they" want you to think? x"
Areas of Britain will become more segregated as larger amounts of different cultures who do not wish to integrate themselves into our society come to live here.
Multi cultural societies rarely exist cohesively historically.
But I would like to think we could though eventually. |

All depends on what work social circles your in, manual work immigration has ruined and very few Young British workers get a look in, here in London over 80% foreign workers, but I suppose if you work in one the nice offices or banks then it will be a lot lot less |

"Ninja so we are now informed there's several here that have done well, contributed and helped others but none of that changes the fact that far to many come to this country with only themselves in mind and this is where the devide grows from " the greater majority of immigrants that I've encountered in the last 16 year's here have been more ambitious than their British counterparts and I've met alot of immigrants considering the fact that I was involved in racial equality for many years and was even involved in studies on the subject that have lead to changes in policies etc...generally people coming from abroad have arrived from a more volatile and competitive environment than there is here....things are too easy for people here to not try hard....people here complain about their being no jobs or no opportunities but if someone can come here from another county with a different culture, language etc and face discrimination and many other hurdles to overcome and still come out if it better than someone who's been here their whole life then what does that prove exactly? What it says to me is that where there's a will there's a way and where there's no will there's no way....teens here don't value free education....teens in the Caribbean value education not only because it's not free but because they recognize the opportunity to better themselves and their fortunes and to provide for their family and community...when I went to school here in my teens the general attitude was "fuck school" ... It's not the immigrants that are the main problem...the problem is the perception of what the problem is and people's attitude towards society and the part they play in the bigger scheme of things...your average kid here doesn't care about not littering or paying into pensions for senior citizens or not driving about playing load music in their car....Kevin and Perry are a prime example of the attitude of teen's here |

"Immigrants thieving . money grabbing
Leaches" no I'm not,to the contrary the many friends I've made here who I've lent money to that I didn't get back or who have stolen from me would more appropriately fit that category...then again can we blame them when they're only following the lead of the politicians who ironically want to blame immigration for them filling their pockets from money that should go towards common folk |

"Unchecked immigration within the EU is keeping wages low
discuss?"
Wages are low as there are a lot of eastern Europeans being employed, but that is only due to people not wanting them.
I work at Gatwick the amount is eastern Europeans working here is a lot, but you see British people finding out the have to work weekends, start at 5 am and sometimes before finish late and then leave to go back on the dole.
In my opinion we need those foreign workers as so many other don't want it. |

Well said sir. A short well reasoned argument...
Now back in the real world...
I salute anyone who works hard and congratulate anyone brave enough to start their own business...
Unfortunately I have noticed in London that now a large number of homeless are foreign and this causes a bad perception...
I am for controlled immigration, people need to provide skills, money, knowledge ect...
I disagree that you can just move to a new country on a whim with no means of support... |

These same debates have been ongoing for many generations. There was a huge backlash against an influx of Jews from Europe in the 19th century for example.
Constantly harping on about immigration divides without recognising the contribution to our society which immigration has provided historically. |

Open door immigration was allowed to create a financial bubble so that the governments figures looked good at the time. This can only last for so long until it bursts. One excuse is that we need extra workers to pay for an ageing population. Well who then pays for these extra workers when they are old? Yet more immigrants? And so on and so on? It is like one giant Ponzi scheme that will eventually collapse. |

Controlled economic migration = good
Uncontrolled and illegal migration = bad
Surely that's the viewpoint of the vast, vast majority summed up isn't ?

It's all a bit misleading!.
The UK population is 66 million, ish with 240k skm land mass.
Scotland 5 million people
Wales 3 million people
Northern Ireland just under 2
That leaves 56 million in England
.
Now Wales, Scotland and northern Ireland make up nearly half the land mass with only about 15% of the population!.
.
England taken as a country is actually in the top ten of density population in the world with about 411 people per sqkm.
.
So even if you think there's plenty of space, then the space is actually in Scotland Wales and northern Ireland.
Now if you look at those three countries geographically you see why they tend to be sparsely populated. |

I guess it depends on how we define immigrants! When I talk to people they often confuse immigrants with refugees, asylum seekers or illegal immigrants. The latter being separate issues.
I'm the daughter of immigrants who came here looking for work. They found it and paid their way in society.
Incidentally, before my recent unemployment, one of my roles was to support young men into work and it was gob smacking! The number of clients who would not apply for jobs because they wouldn't be instantly getting 20K plus a year was gob smacking. We've taught our young people that bling, instant riches and fame is more important than working hard.

What's 20k in this country though!!.
Your coming out with 300 a week ish.
The average house price is 180k..
Let's say your renting, the average rent is now 100 a week.
Your not exactly living like the kardasians on that money!.
People always fucking bang on about UK people not getting out of bed for this or that but honestly, your not living a life of luxury on 20k.
Sure if you wanna live 12 to a room like many immigrants are found doing, if you bring in your car that doesn't need road tax or an mot in this country, if you bring in your untaxed fags and booze by the boot load like many immigrants do and send your money home to a country that has a tenth of your cost of living.... Then sure you can live OK on 20k.
But take it from me as I've meet and worked with hundreds of immigrants who do exactly that... It's still not a great way to live!!! |

A lot,if my daughter's estate is indicative of the rest of the country. Immigration,at the rate it has been over the last 10 years, has had an impact, there's no denying that. With illegal immigrants come problems, with migrants comes problems. How the Government deals with those problems is the big issue. With the economy crash that has impacted severely on the UK,councils and public services have seen their budgets cut,all the while taking in more and more people. Less money and more people means we have to pay more. Private landlords are benefiting,as are building development companies, with thousands of new flats going up. Some are being rented to ex council tenants at less than council rents but still more than people can afford. Thereby adding to the housing benefit bill. More people, more people claiming benefits like these and tax credits. I'm saddened to think what it will be like in 10 years time when my grandchildren will be working. They'll have to go abroad to be able to live. |

I'm talking about 16, 17 year olds who refuse to get out of bed for anything less with very few qualifications and no work experience. They want to be rich and they want it immediately.
Their aspirations are to be rappers, reality stars etc.
" .
Your in full time eduction until 18 but that aside...
Who gave them this belief?.
Get rich or die trying,I don't think it's one thing in particular but blaming somebody for not doing a job that pays shit is a problem, having not enough people trained to do certain jobs is a problem, having children leave schools after 14 years of education without qualifications is a problem.... allowing unlimited immigration to get round those problems is no solution, it's just a sticking plaster on yet another problem that government thinks is to hard to tackle!.
If permanent and constant immigration is the solution then where does it end?? |

Indeed from April 2017 anyone from outside EU must be earning at least £41K plus £1000 company fee + health insurance to even be considered for a visa

i know that some schools and hospitals are worried as they may lose staff.... so there may end up being exemptions made to this..... |

"Anyone who wants to come to this country, work, pay their taxes and can contribute to it should be accepted with open arms.
Everyone else should be told to **** off.
The tree huggers and left wingers will no doubt adopt their normal stance of insults and accusations of facism for any individual who doesn't agree with their accept all policy." .
I'm a tree hugger and a left winger... Yeah emotive language, that should do the trick |

"Economically, immigration has always been a positive for this country.
Some people just don't like immigrants so the economic argument just does not matter.
Our blame culture has its scapegoat, if it wasn't immigrants it would be the poor.
and the dirty secret a lot of people don't like talking about is that a lot of them do the jobs the home population often turn their noses up at....."
Economically before it has yes but when before have we seen anything like the numbers that we are seeing now year after year? It is nothing to do with blame and scapegoats and not liking immigrants, it's to do with the numbers.
And another dirty secret if you are going down that road is that a lot of them will do jobs that the home population are willing to do but they will do it for less. Ask any tradesman |

but the problem with that assumption is that,actually...scrap that, lets call it irony,
even ukip admitted in their own general election manifesto, their points system would still allow tradesmen such as plumbers and electricians and bricklayers and builders to come in... because otherwise the country would have a shortage......
they would come under the title of "skilled workers" |

The 'numbers' as you put it does not change the fact that economically it is a positive for the country....before and now.
If you don't like the numbers then it's not because of the economics it's because of something else.
It's not a 'dirty secret' that some tradesmen have been out priced for work, it's an open fact.
I remember when we had a real shortage of plumbers and electricians in this country, it was a nightmare trying to find a plumber to do a small domestic job, as a result they could charge whatever they wanted. Not anymore! |

See this is where I get lost on immigration and Sustainability?.
.
So I get that you'll need to use immigration and to an extent emigration from time to time as a country.
Now if were now presuming that we need immigration to fill jobs that "natives" can't/won't do and that creates a growth on gdp meaning more immigration needed, causing an exponential curve.
So where do you stop?, I mean were increasing at a rate of about 1 Coventry per year?
Is this a constant, is it one Coventry a year forever?.
If you start tailing off immigration once on that path, does that mean your going down a deflationary path like Japan?.
I'm a Sustainability junky, if it's not sustainable I'm against it and I just don't see how long term mass immigration fits for me. |

"I don't think it is. Same as Europe. I don't really know anyone who actually gave a shit about it until they were told that it was the BIGGEST ISSUE imaginable and the MOST IMPORTANT DECISION they would ever face.
Maybe I'm sheltered by being middle class and in the north, but immigration has pretty much zero impact on my life, positive or negative.
It's has a huge impact in the south east and as housing etc costs continue to rise down here, these economic movements will move further north.
It definitely has impact here as I work for a housing association and a high proportion applying for housing are foreign, mostly Polish plus I am job hunting again and a much higher number applying for jobs than 2 years ago.
How many get a house ?"
9/10 are successful with accommodation though they are happy to have a flat |

Exactly. Are these people so blind or ignorant? It just creates an economic bubble in the short term. When these millions retire, who pays the pension/benefits? Who looks after them and treats them? More immigrants? Then who looks after and pays for those immigrants? More immigrants? And on it goes until it can go no more. Its like the banks lending and lending to make the figures look good. In the end it comes crashing down. Strangely enough the people who endorse mass immigration are actually the ones who don't give a fuck about them. They obviously haven't stopped to think of the consequences |
