i had to pull over...
on a busy road with two young children...hazards on...cars zooming past.
'cept a lovely 'boy racer' type...he stopped to offer assistance and advice.

If its smoking your engine must be burning oil, which means the oil is getting past your piston rings.
Or the oil is coming out the engine breather pipes / vents and falling onto the hot exhaust outlet and burning.
Just loosen the sump nut and let some out. |

yeah, someone did that for me...drained half a gallon of excess oil... |

"Yes as ive done it before, i suspect that it messes up the ratio of oil to air to petrol thats my best explanation "
Nothing to do with it. Just drowns everything in oil and when it gets hot it smokes rather than lubricates. Heats up too much then your engine goes bang. Too much is just as bad as not enough. |
