I have often read articles about the strange excuses that people come up with as to why they can't work or complete a task etc. I often chuckle and thunk that the article is made to fill space and surely it can't be true.
Today I have had 2 people claim to need to take a day off which had the strangest things:
My washing machine has blown up and I need to go to the launderette.
My mum lost her dog - I actually thought she meant couldn't find it. Turns out it passed away!
Now normally I'm quite relaxed and am flexible telling staff to do what they need to and not worry about holiday. But today I've just been blunt and told them it will be a days holiday.clearly the nice weather yesterday has got to them.
What are your experiences? |

In both instances I think you're fair to dock holiday. They sound like they're taking the piss tbh
Even if they're true, there's no need to take a day off to do you washing - that is usually done outside of work hours for those without a machine - and the dog is not hers by her own admission. |

We have the figures in my projects for last 18 months
Freelancers, people that don't get paid if they don't work
26 people = 0 sick days
permies, get paid for hangovers
