pitfalls of being single
Jump to: Newest in thread
So as a whole I enjoy the single life but there are pitfalls that come with it.
Today I was looking at going to Butlins for one of the over 18s weekends, possibly the 80s one. So on the website and they advertise some good prices until you look closer and they are all based on 2 people sharing. Most of me mates are in relationships so that's out the window unless I pay double the cost.
so come on let's here you rant about something related to being single |

I love gping on holidays by myself and generally don't mind paying single supplements. I'm happy to pay more to do the kind of holiday I like without having to worry about someone else.
And I enjoy eating out on my own too. People watching is enough to keepe entertained. |

Some adult conversation when you get home from work. Snuggled on the sofa with a glass of wine and watching a movie. Miss being snuggled up in bed and making love not just sex. |

Going out isn't so much of an issue, you get round it but a lot of activities, holidays, trips out etc are geared for TWO persons.
EG, I was given a Virgin Experience Day Out card by my brother as a birthday present but only a very small % of the available events are for 1 person.
Considering that the number of single people in the UK us growing, few companies in the Leisure, Hospitality, and Entertainment industries seem to have latched onto the Singles "market". |

As above, no one to snuggle/spoon with in bed. No one to kiss. No blowjobs.
I holiday alone, which is a little awkward sometimes, but I'm used to it. I've seen many great places and meet people along the way.... |

At one point I travelled a lot for work so eating alone never bothered me.
I also realised I compromised a lot when it came to going out/on holidays with friends so came to the conclusion to do what I want. So in 2012 I went on my first holiday alone to Marrakesh. I chose Morocco because it had the lowest single supplement.
The only part of the trip I wished I had company was in the airport coming home.
I'm in a relationship, we live together but I still do a lot of things alone as he works seven days a week sometimes and doesn't enjoy things I do. That said he's making more of an effort since I said I was off on holiday for two weeks with friends. He had first dibs but didn’t want to go anywhere and genuinely thought I wouldn't go without him...Bless! |

That the Council Tax is only reduced by 25%, and not the 50% that would seem fairer.
Everything else in life is pretty much to my advantage, and if ever in doubt then I go for an extra food shopping in the Superstore where most couple are so miserable and treat each other like shit over such a simple task that is food shopping.
Bless them, they know no better! |

This may be quite specific to me but sitting with someone's feet in your lap while you both read. When asked what I'm looking for in a relationship, I always say that |

I'm sitting here and I can't think of any drawbacks to my single life.
I love living alone and I have a lot of mates so if there's ever something I need a buddy for I just shout. I have a lovely life. |

It's really really sexist, but I miss having someone to change light bulbs! I get a bit wobbly with smaller heights (am ok with flying etc, but ladders/standing on chairs terrifies me)
Monday mornings at work suck when people talk about the stuff they have done with partners.
Being ill sucks too, when you just want someone to make you soup or get stuff from shops.

If you search Travel Republic or Booking.com you will find plenty of holidays without single supplements. I find Greece is the best destination for that. Or look for hotels that have single rooms. Or do what I do and have a holiday buddy |

"Nobody to snuggle with on the sofa or in bed. No regular lovely sex, no trips to the cinema.
Ive gone to the cinema on my own"
Me too, Mrs ddc has no taste in films.
There was a brief period when one of the kids would love to come, but now I'm too uncool again
But there was a time when Wednesdays were the only night I could get out alone and can confirm, Orange Wednesday, as a single, made you feel VERY self-conscious.

I quite like going to the cinema on my own. Used to do it occasionally even when I'm a relationship, but I hate cloths so ping on my own and wouldn't dream of doing it with my friends. |

Same can't think of one thing. I actually prefer being single. Can't see myself ever getting tied down again. |

"hiring a pedalo and going round in circles as all the couples look at you with pity in their eyes "
Sorry, we didn't realise, we assumed you were doing the aquatic version of "pulling a doughnut", that's why we were laughing at you.

The holiday thing, plus I need someone to push me into doing things. There's so many restaurants I want yo go to, and places I want to visit but without anyway to encourage me I find myself making excuses not to go |

Just go places alone. It's not hard and no one cares. I go places alone all the time. If you wanted to do stuff that badly you'd just do it.
There's nothing I hate about being single. I get to do what I want and have regular sex. |

I consider the extra supplements charged for singles to be a small price to pay for this freedom.
I can go to Cap d Agde and have three ladies in a day . I don't think this would be possible if I was not single . |

Same again!!
I'd suggest single people on here (if they don't already!) stop seeing this as a casual sex site and start seeing it as a friendship site for like minded people! I've met some fantastic friends on here - some I shag, some I don't! Every meet with a single guy is a 'boyfriend fix' (all the affection/laughter - none of the hassle!) as I'm choosy who I meet!
To be honest, my experience of relationships has been pretty crap - so it would take a very special guy to make me even contemplate doing it again!
Just remember singletons - about 80% (at least) of relationships are far from wonderful - they're just together for convenience! Xx |

The fact you haven't really got anything to look forward to when you got home atleast with a partner you had a welcome home and a happy face looking in your general direction. Now I just have the dog barking at me! Lol |

When you walk into a swinging club and you feel lost and he's not there to hold your hand anymore...the whole swinging thing is infinitely better as a couple as you know someone has got your back |
