Another football club loses trial

The same week that Leeds were found to have discriminated against a woman, Newcastle have been found guilty of descrimination against Jonas Gutierrez for disability.
Is this a systemic problem with football clubs, victory for the little guy or business as usual? |

If you asked the average football fan they would not be surprised by either of these clubs getting into this kind of mess. They are both perceived to be badly run and are generally disliked. Neither clubs owners are held in high regard. |

The quick version is that the Newcastle player was a long time player with lots of games under his belt. He gets cancer and suddenly gets dropped before he starts treatment and basically doesn't get played once he recovers. Thus has the effect of him not playing enough games to trigger a clause in his contract that would automatically extend it and thus entitle him to compensation if they wanted to cancel it. |

Football is riddled with discrimination, how many players are gay or bi yet there is clearly pressure to play straight, look at Cristiano Ronaldo. All the stories during his time in England about his dalliances with hookers and gangbangs yet clearly he bats for the other side, or possibly both. All the hugging and kissing after scoring a goal yet oh no they must not tell.  |

It's shameful. A long term employee with a good record thrown on the scrap heap to avoid a bit of compensation when he was down on his luck. |

"Football is nothing but a money making business anymore. It's one of the harshest out there for not caring about people, just results and making money."
I don't think all clubs are like that, Southampton, Leicester and Tottenham have better reputations for developing players |

Of course it's not systematic with football.
I'm all for women being involved at football clubs if they are the best person for the job and haven't been employed just to fulfil a quota.
It's not the 70"s or even the 80"s and lots of women are involved in the game and treated just as a man would be |

What the senior personnel at Newcastle did to Jonas was nothing short of disgusting. It might be just business but ethics mean nothing to these goons.
And I'm a Newcastle fan. Utter ashamed of how the club's is run. |

not quite... but close enough....
they did actually play him when he got back.. the entire city loved him and help then just about survive relegation at the end...
it was the way he was released by the club that was unsavourary and annoyed/upset a lot of supporters here... he wasn't told face to face... he found out in a call to another player who was actually being released over the phone.... |

This comment is nothing to do with the way Jonas Gutierrez was treated but they would probably treat any player the same way.
On the other side the majority of players treat clubs with contempt and would jump ship despite signing a new long term deal if a bigger club comes calling |
