I sometimes consider I drink too much even if just a beer or couple of glasses of wine a night
How much do you drink and do you feel it is okay or too much
I carried out an online drinks test and here are the results;
You sco_ed 14 out of 40, which indicates your drinking is: Increasing Risk
For Increasing Risk scores we recommend you cut down your drinking. See below for some help with doing that.
You are drinking 6.5 units on a typical drinking day.
You are consuming 452 calories from these units.
The government advises that men and women do not drink more than 14 units per week, with at least two days alcohol free. The daily calorie limit for a man is 2500
what are your _iews on drink and how much do you drink a day / a week? |

I rarely drink at home (only when I have visitors, or have some beer left over from a holiday), but when I go out, woo hoo, watch out.
So most days I drink zero units, but sometimes I can get into double figures easily. |

For me it would come to an average of maybe 1 bottle of beer per 2 months. I only drink for social reasons and the last time I had alcohol was in January |

Rarely. I have a couple around Christmas and on nights out, which are very rare now. I did have a couple of brandy and lemonades a few weeks ago, which I enjoyed. I could go months before I have another drink. |

With company over for dinner then I might have 1-2 drinks
If out socialising then more often than not I will be driving
Probably equals about 2 drinks a month |

I've cut down my alcohol intake but I do know that at a weekend I drink far too much...however I'm not in denial that I do drink too much and cut down...I come from a family of heavy drinkers so it's hard to break the cycle but I'm getting there... |

right up until New Years Eve last year I would have classed myself a moderate to heavy drinker...
then I did dry January, where I didn't touch a drop...
it loosely carried on into February and March and now April..and tbh I don't miss it at all. I have had the odd glass of wine to be sociable but these days it doesn't even taste that great so I'd rather leave it..
I've also lost weight and my skin is a lot clearer too

Generally very little, we can both go months without a drink, will occaisionally have a glass of two of wine or a few beers.
But will go a bit crazy once in awhile normally with work and drink Sambucca and Jagerbombs and pretty much whatever's going - but think I might be growing out of that now

It wasn't too long ago that a glass of _ed wine a day was of benefit to our hearts..

Both occasional drinkers. We can go weeks or months without fancing a drink.
When we have do have one or a few, we enjoy it. Only trouble is, it goes to my head rather quickly and I suffer for it the next day. Mr B's fine and doesn't get hangovers. (Lucky buggar)

It just proves how easily dumbed-down statistics can be made to be functionally useless. |

I can take it or leave it
Can go months without a drop them smash it day or night for two weeks whilst on holiday
I am equally happy going out all night and not touching a drop

I probably drink 3 to 4 nights a week and will have a bottle of _ed wine each night or maybe 3 ciders depending on the mood. I rarely go out but if i do i will have between 5 and 8 pints of cider. Do i consider this too much. Possibly. But i eat relatively healthy, go thw gym from time to time and have a fairly active job. I also dont drink for february every year (as its the shortest month ) |

I'm going through my second teenage phase. Out out with my bitches at least once a week.
When we go out out, I drink like a thirsty fish. It's not big, hard nor clever but hey. Tis my money and my liver. Plenty of time to calm down amd grow up...right?
I've had plenty of experience staying in and not drinking. I've got a happier outlook now. |

I think some swingers have selective memory when it comes to their alcohol intake.
Many don't see it as socially acceptable to admit to having too many once in a while. This especially applies to the middle and upper classes in my experience.
I used to drink like a fish personally but I cut down a lot but still way above any recommended guidelines. They are just guidelines and you should be able to control your own intake, we are all different.

Why is it only swingers who have selective memory? I think it's people in general I know I drink too much I'm not going to sugar coat it, I know why I drink too much and the event that caused me to increase my alcohol intake..I've cut back as all I seem to get is people taking the piss out of me because I was d*unk...I don't want to be known as _isscheekychops the one you meet pissed on a Saturday night.. |

You're absolutely right I was purely looking at it from a swinging perspective.
Snobbery exists everywhere I like a drink and always will it doesn't affect my life at all, luckily for me. |

Never met my father, he died an alcoholic. My step-brother is an alcoholic and his mum died an alcoholic too!
So I rarely get pissed. When I do it's usually by accident but that's always the best way.
I probably drink the equivalent to 4 beers a week but sometimes more, often less. |

Ever asked a non-drinker why they don’t drink?
Same fucking answer every time. You go, why don’t you drink? And they go, I don’t like the taste of it.
Nobody does. No one likes the taste of it, but we drink because we fucking have to.
No one has ever had a shot of tequila and gone, oh, that’s lovely. Next time, I’ll have that instead of pudding, it’s so moreish.
We drink because life’s shit and you gotta do whatever you can to get through the fucking day. Now, I honestly didn’t mean to time it like that. That’s like a magic trick, isn’t it? I’ve decided I’m going to punch people in their head if they say the next sentence.
I encourage you to do the same because they think they are better than you.
Anyone who says the sentence, I don’t need to drink or take drugs to have a good time, I’m high on life.....Punch that cunt in the head till your hand breaks. Just – Really? Well, I’m angry on alcohol. |

Prior to January I would go out with some mates about once a month and have about 8 to 10 pints.
Since doing the dryathlon, I just don't have the taste or desire for it anymore, had maybe 5 pints since the beginning of February |

I don't drink alcohol because I don't like the taste, I don't do drugs because I'm high on life. There happy? If you need alcohol or drugs to have fun in life, good for you but not everyone does.
If your life stories are defined by the amount of alcohol or drugs you consume then in my opinion you're more boring than anyone else in comparison. |

People are fine to not drink, and if you judge someone for not drinking then you're an arsehole. It's actually a great lifestyle choice and if you can enjoy yourself without it then congrats.
However if you don't drink and judge someone for drinking. You too are also an arsehole. |

Excessive drinking achieves absolutely fuck all apart from causing problems to your body.
As regards anyone having a problem, then that's up to them to decide surely? |

You're right it doesn't. It's a toxin, and it's likely a hangover is your body failing to break down alcohol completely. So even in the short term it's not good for your body.
Yet a large majority use it and many even use it excessively. Anyone can decide they have a problem with this, as is their right. But people enjoy it, and I think it's in poor taste to bash on things people enjoy in the same way that it's wrong to criticise someones personal beliefs or other life choices. |

Only drink at weekend,
Weekends start on Thursdays tho don't they? And Monday and Tuesday's are the end of the weekend aren't they?
I fucking hate Wednesdays
Seriously the govt guidelines are a bit made up, it varies but at least two days of zero alcohol a week minimum.
You don't need to be pissed to have fun.
Don't drink because you're down it won't work.
If the after effects interfere with life cut back.

I have just came back to this tread and read most of it; not sure if I am impressed or very surprised with so few who enjoy a drink
I don't drink for a full 2 weeks out of 5 (as I work offshore)
but I do enjoy a drink and my local is genuinely very similar to the "Cheers" bar, where all are locals, each and every one is fun and enjoyable in their own way and tend to sit at the same place on bar
If I am on a USA road trip, finding a good bar ensures you always find good conversation too
again im surprised of how few on here enjoy a beverage
still; I will have a drink for you
Cheers |

Far too much!
I'm having a little detox at the moment which to be honest is a little dull!
If the majority on this thread are right then I clearly must be extremely boring!
I don't feel the need to get shit faced every night - but I like a glass or 2 of wine in the evening to make everything I do seem just that little bit more exciting!
But I'm going for 90 days of no drinking at the moment.
I'm on
day 6 .... not that I'm counting or anything!
