Way over Yonder, that's where I'm bound |
Very revealing secret filming.
The DWP denies issuing any of the instructions Capita are claiming come from DWP to their staff. So far they haven't said how they address bad practice from their providers.

"Who gets it? What do they get it for? "
it's for disabled people who will have extra expenses. to help them retain a level of independence.

Its some thing David Cameron, George Osborne and their Eatonian chums think that people can do with out and want to cut them in the budget . They were forced to do a U Turn |

"It was quite shocking to see the payment levels. They are clearly designed to reward people for doing as many assessments as possible rather than doing correct assessments.
"
So obviously they aren't going to do many correctly, the poor sods appeal, hey ho, another assessment and more cash from the government! Oh crikey! That's why it costs so much! Let's take some payments away! Or at least try....another cunning plan foiled
No need to worry about the lack of money and stress in the meantime. |

Corruption is ripe in government.. having worked in benefits at a local authority its shocking and sad and so wrong.
You hear about all these dodgy dealings and lavish cars all off a sudden appearing on staff car parks |

The mental health tests are quite shocking tick boxes.

"I've taped it but watching c4 news first.
This doesn't sound good.and unsurprisingly unsurprising sadly."
It had the effect of reinforcing the anecdotes, which are always written off as people griping without good reason because the system is robust.
Undercover footage is harder to dismiss than someone who used to have benefits and has had them removed.

Capita is an insidious organisation whose tentacles are spreading ever further. Before too long they will be running the country whether we like it or not. Where I live in north London, what used to be the local Council Planning Department is now a private concern which:
a) considers and approves/rejects everyone's Planning applications, the way the Council used to
b) also develop their own property development schemes which need to get Planning consent from their own team
Guess who owns 51%? Capita... |

Your borough also toyed with the idea of outsourcing everything to Capita a few years ago, if I remember correctly.

"yeah not a bad programme. not as long as i'd have liked but showed that arseholes work everywhere."
I would have said that the only thing the 'arsehole' did wrong was boast on secret camera about how he did his job and how much he was able to make as a result.
I would say from watching the program he was only doing what he was paid to do. |

True, but if thought about objectively is making fair comment and pointing out to the trainee who was shadowing him the sort of thing to be noted. However the thing that I found appalling that did not attract any real attention was the manager removing notices informing those being assessed of their rights!
As for the taking photos of reports written I would say it speaks more to the probity of Capita (a company where an employee feels it is necessary to make physical records of all work completed so he has proof when underpaid by payroll). |

I noticed the removal of the notices too. It is hardly surprising that so many cases win on appeal. All at further cost to the system, without loss of profit for Capita and the other private sector providers.

I knew someone involved in the assessment process for Employment Support Allowance ( another new disability benefit .....Can't recall what it replaced)
Regarding mental health. Is the person depressed? It was actually in their script to ask if they had a pet. If the person smiled as they replied yes I have a little dog / cat. They noted down they were not depressed !!!
The girl I knew left, because that was how warped the assessment was. |

My son has just gone through the PIP process. He was asked (and I kid you not) how long would it be until he had a kidney transplant?! Obviously, he couldn't answer. So assessor said, "Let me rephrase the question. How far are you upon the list!!!!"
He had to point out to her that transplant lists don't work on a first come first serve basis. You're matched according to compatibility of said organ.
Anyway, short story short he was awarded PIP. He was also asked to attend the job centre monthly so he can prepare for work!
And so he does! He's got a lovely CV and they send him to some wonderful career fairs from which he's picked up a stunning array of free pens and trolley coins
