I have had a mobile on contract for many years ...regularly keep getting phone calls to update the handset which I would rather not do as I have usually just worked out how to operate the last one ..but I go with the flow. ..on this latest occasion I said I would like to keep my handset and they said I could and my monthly contract bill would half as 50% is paying for the 'free handset' ,..new to me !!

Since this call my battery keeps going flat daily ...it used to last a week as I am very low user ..it could be a coincidence but it seems strange ..could they have done something to my phone ? ...it really don't want a new handset and just want this one to work. .any ideas ?

How long have you had your current phone for? If the battery isn't lasting it may be possible to get a replacement battery from the cell phone manufacturer.

on the road to nowhere in particular

The best advice is normally to get out of your contract asap and get a sim only deal which is often much cheaper. Always try to buy a new phone outright rather than with a contract. The upfront costs are more but over the length of the contract you will be quids in

Central

Sim only deals come in 1 month and 12 months terms. They're likely to be even better when you ask your network for a PAC number to leave.

Many phones have batteries that you can replace, so tell us your phone and we could look for you.

Networks can't interfere with your battery etc from a far - relax.

Of you're going to lock into anybody's network, ensure you could afford to upgrade your own phone, should it break part way into the term. For 100 or less you can get a good phone and it will have a guarantee too

I haven't had the phone the full term of the contract though as they keep giving me upgrades which I don't want ...I just want a phone I can actually work and I've just got used to this one hence my reluctance to change again
