If your pour boiling water onto coffee it burns in. Optimum temp is between 75/81 degrees for tea and coffee. But tea put boiling water on bag allow to brew for 3/5 minutes add milk and drink |

Tea requires boiling water to brew properly, whereas boiling water scalds coffee and causes a bitter taste.
So milk in first for coffee, but water first for tea. |

Tea = water then milk
Coffee = milk then water, however if I'm making black coffee then a bit of cold water then boiled water.
I find pouring boiled water on coffee burns it. |

I need to do my coffee 50/50 at work, so I can drink it straight away, otherwise it might be 12 hours later be for I get round to even drinking it. Always do coffee 50 water then 50 milk, quick stir and neck it back xxxxx Suzi |

Always milk in first when I make tea for me because I hate strong tea
Anyone else I do the opposite
And when making coffee I always put milk in first because if you pour boiling water over coffee it makes the coffee bitter
Well that's what I saw on TV don't know if it's true or not cause I don't really drink coffee unless it's a latte |

If just making a cup of tea, the teabag goes in first, then the water then after a few minutes the milk. If you put the milk in too soon it clogs the pores in the bag.
I like to treat myself to a full pot from time to time and I believe that for optimum taste the hot tea should be poured into the cold milk and not the other way round so that's how I do it then. xx |

Au contraire mon ami .....
Boiling water impairs the taste of any brewed drink.
My tea is made with water that is 85 to 90 degrees. Never boiling.
Coffee a little hotter and as people say ....... if you MUST use boiling water then cover the coffee with milk to prevent scalding of the granules ( if it's instant )
If it's a cafetiere of freshly brewed allow the water to cool for five mins afer boiling before brewing.
trust me |

Sorry, but I reserve the right to disagree where black leaf tea is concerned. |

You of course have the right to drink improperly brewed tea if that is your preference. |

Hmm the age old question...
Tea for me is Teabag in, hot water in, stir, brew, enjoy.
Yes. Teabag goes nowhere and milk doesn't come into the equation!!!
Coffee....black with sugar. Both in the cup together and add water.
Simple |

There's actually been research on this, and it turns out that most people who think they prefer the milk put in after the hot water are wrong. Their expectation overcomes what their senses are telling them, so if they think that the milk was put in last they think it tastes better. Given a blind taste test, however, most of them prefer the one where the milk was put in first.
If the milk goes in after the water, it heats up much more quickly and that damages enzymes in the milk, turning it a but sour. If the milk goes in first it heats up more slowly so that doesn't happen. |

One of my favourite quotes from John Brennan about tea......
Nah then, tha wants t'empty t'owd watter aht o' kettle and fill 'er up wi' fresh watter afoor tha puts it on t' ob. Get taypot reet nicely warmed and dry insahd, and then get thi tay in. Nah, as soon as t'kettle comes reet on t' boil an' not a second afoor or aftah, get watter pooared in t' pot.
Dooan't furget! Allus tek t' pot to t' kettle and not t' kettle to t'pot. Lerrit mash a fair wahl an' then girrit a stir afoor tha pooars it aht. Nah, thez summas puts milk in fust an' summas put tay in fust . To oor way o' thinkin', t'impooartant thing is to mek certain tha's med plenty fooar second 'elpin's!
Basically it doesn't matter. |

Milk first for instant coffee but you must allow tea to brew in properly in as hot a temp as possible (warming the cup if possible when using a tea bag so it's milk after. |

I'm milk in first for both coffee & tea. Coffee I like to stir the granules into the milk before adding the water. Carte Noir is my tipple. |
