No its not a spelling mistake.
The more you read and get involved in the forums, the more you pick up on people's debating styles.
There's the aggressive, answer everything with a fact types (I'm right your wrong!)
The amicable power of suggestion types who use such phrases as, in my opinion or possibly ?
And the list goes on. What sort of debater are you amongst the masses? Do you pause and keep your cool or draw your mighty quill and attack the keyboard? |

"I make irrelevant comments which I think are funny. " lots do that...Sometimes they get lost amongst the angry sorts but I like irrelevant comedy comments. Some take this way too seriously!

I tend not to comment on most of the debates here as they descend into arguements and I can't be arsed with that but I do follow them with interest. The ones that I've commented on so far have been IMO but if I was sure of my facts then that's what I'd say. |

It's not intentional.. I just get it arse about face sometimes |

One thing I think is important that may be overlooked on this thread.
How a person reads, how they comprehend, how they wish to comprehend has as much , if not more bearing on a debate than what they have agreed or disagreed with.
One thing I have never done is insult a person during a discussion.
I think once someone descends along those lines their argument is lost and their character bare. |

I don't get involved in debates on here it's pretty pointless!
I'll sometimes pitch in with a serious opinion but mostly try to think of funny remarks.
It's amazing how worked up n offended n angry some folk can get on here! Entertaining stuff |

bit of everything really, with some sarcasm thrown in (that you can't tell coz it's the internet).
i've been on better debate sites than this and learned how to debate in an unbiased way, although this site is dumbed down so sometimes it's hard to stay high quality. |

Good point. I think whilst initially daunting to some, the forum is a good place to develop debating skills. Rather than shooting from the hip,a pause and a moment's reflection can convey a message far more effectively.
Unfortunately some will always misinterpret or take offence, but if I know my words were carefully conside_ed with no malice,my conscience is clear. (For a change ) |

I stopped ages putting my opinion in ages ago as people just wound me up. I used to get into trouble and got given time outs. Any threads that mention politics, religion, war and controversial themes such as paedophilia and murder etc I don't even look at. I try to keep to the threads that look fun or interesting. |

"Sorry to be a pedant but you said it wasn't a spelling mistake .. but surely you mean 'mass debate'?
Possibly, in my opinion of course " of course...it can be any interpretation you wish...but the less latent, deviant sorts, may have believed it to be a reference to bashing the monkey.
But seeing as you debated this in a peaceful manner I'm happy to accept you're right. |

I try to post a maximum of 3 times on a thread, as I don't want to get into a tit for tat. I usually achieve it and it will be the exception if I post more.
I endeavour to be authentic and I couldn't care less if my opinions don't endear me to others. I am happy with me and that is all that matters to me.
I admire greatly a few posters for their contributions and the way they put them across. |

I don't go in for the heavy debates on subjects I know little about, don't see the point as I'd be posting just for sake of it.
Generally, I would say I'm an amicable suggester of a different _iewpoint. I don't get personal & I don't bang on & on & on trying to get my point across.
I _iew the forums as a lighthearted distraction some _iew them like they're on a debating team. |

I like to..1. Micro analyse and point out the holes in somebody's argument and 2. I love pointing out to people that by insulting others they have effectively conceded their argument.
Please note telling me that I need to grow up is not necessary, I know it already! |

"some people just reply to topics to try and wind people up and think that's funny. they're the crappiest debaters, if they even are debaters."
I like these
There isn't a great deal of 'debate' on here. I'd say it's more:
- Look at how clever I am (via google)
- Look at how funny I am (via google)
- Just look at me (pics off google)
And then there's a bit of idle chit chat between forum luvvies with the odd interjection by forum wannabes.
Without the people throwing in the wind-ups it would be very dull. |
