Babysitters...

At present we are having huge problems getting someone to mind our youngest. The older one goes to her Grandparents however they cant 'handle' a big one and a baby one on the same evening.

We've even offered to put them to bed and they can just sit at ours watching the same crap on TV as they would at home yet received the 'furrowed brow-don't be ridiculous faces'

Having searched online there are babysitting services available, which appear similar to this site, i.e. a profile and some verifications.

The mummy in me is very dubious of leaving him with a 'stranger', even if they are CRB checked, work at a creche and have 50 people saying they were great... however the woman in me is really wanting a night out of the house with the other half.

Has anyone ever used a sitting service, rather than friends/family or is it really a case of waiting until he can wipe his own bottom and brush his own teeth then letting the grandparents take charge?

Any advice? xxx

telford

You seem to be having the same problem we had when we moved here to Telford, we could not find a sitter for love nor money,it got the stage where we sent out 2 search party's one seeking rocking horse shit and another a babysitter, lol we heard from the first search party 3 times !!.

There is a site on the net who search child care in your area we interviewed several likely suspects pmsl but where put off by the amount they were asking one woman wanted £8 an hour, We eventually found our current childminder advertising in a local garage and although it costs us £30 before we leave home to go anywhere she is a real darling and the kids think the world of her.

Something will turn up sooner or later you just have to keep trying, best of luck.

Try your local sixth form college or school. Health and social or childcare studies. My local school does babysitting courses too with a list on who has passed and in your area. Mine are 8 and 13 and have only just started leaving them with alice since last year she is fantastic 18 and like a big sis to my eldest.
