Been bugging me for years..what is the difference between a preserve and a conserve..and when is a Satsuma a clementine or for that matter a tangerine?

Preserves are spreads that have chunks of fruit surrounded by jelly.

Conserves are made with dried fruits and nuts and are cooked. They have a very thick and chunky texture. Conserves work very well as a spread and as a condiment for meats and cheeses.

Ooh I was hoping for clarity on the satsuma/ tangerine front... Lol will I have to wait till Monday?

Satsumas are generally sweeter than the other two, clementines are generally more fragrant and have a rounder (rather than squat) shape, and tangerines and mandarins tend to be sharper and less sweet (tangerines are slightly more fragrant, mandarins more sour).

I always thought that tangerine was the natural skin colour of essex? Lol
