Shops not excepting Scottish notes, Last time I checked they were legal tender,
And pubs/clubs/restaurants and train stations charging for using the toilet,
Recently returned from a trip abroad and every place we went they wanted money to use the toilet
If its to help pay for the cleaning of the toilet area shouldn't the premises pay for this and not the customer ?

They aren't legal tender, neither are Bank of Ireland notes. Shops can choose to accept them or not, most do, however they should also not be giving them out as change |

Shops where? Last time I tried to use any kind of note, Scottish, Irish or English in Scotland, I was met with smiles and "thank you, have a nice day".
Is this an English problem? |

Strictly speaking, no note has to be accepted in a commercial transaction. It is down to the parties. A Scottish note is legal tender as as an English note. But if either party refuses it, then that is fine too.
As for toilets. Personally, I don't mind having to proffer a bit of change if it means it won't be a minging sewer. |

i dont believe i have any opinion on it other than for a lot of things like this i think a lack of training on the part of the staff.
People think retail is an easy job, the same with call centres and customer service but actually to do the job well it takes a certain type of person and a lot of good training. |

I have seen signs in small shops saying we don't accept them but not in larger chains, As for paying to use the toilet I just think if a shop is providing a service like selling food/drinks and have a seating area they should provide a clean toilet area and pay for the cleaning themselves |

I've never had one turned down in Newcastle, there seem to be quite a lot in circulation. But further south they sometimes look at you like "what the fuck is this" |

Yeah I know I've experienced this for years down London way. 10/20s I can get away with but try and pass an RBS £50... no chance. This in itself I find slightly ironic given that we all own a little bit of it! |
