I may be wrong, but I think this is where the user has put this information on there, but the system (and it appears to be a relatively recent change) automatically blanks out a chunk of it.
It may be to save their emails from being harvested by bots that will then spam them with offers of penile extensions, viagra and (let me just check my inbox), oh yes, more viagra...

Its quire simple really. There are programs called bots that trawl the internet picking up email addresses from different areas. So it you have the @ and a .com or .co.uk it auto collects like a big combine harvester. You then get the "is your penis beg enough " email 1000's of times.
To be honest you have to be a be a little desperate to put your phone no and an mail address on anyway. Desperate isn't a good look for anyone. |

You'll probably find that the coding for this site looks for specific characters and acts when it finds them.
The @ sign is used almost exclusively for email addresses so it's easy to look for it and blank out anything that appears after it until a full stop is encountered. Then you code to look at the next three characters and if another full stop is encountered you blank that out too and then repeat the process until you encounter a space gap. Simples, see!

We obfuscate email addresses on profiles to stop them being harvested by spammers (which has happened). This is to protect users.
We're looking at alternative solutions which will allow emails to be shown but still stop them being harvested.

Some swinger sites ban you from putting emails in your profile, maybe some think it's the same on FAB.
As someone mentioned, Bots trawl though sites collecting information, (Google does it for contents) spammers for increase your cock size...
I don't think FAB blocks emails on profiles, but they do advise against it... |

what about the additional problem - that is, put up a fake profile, and then put in the email and phone number of somebody you don't like. A nice youngish female profile should result in your victim getting bombarded. If emails and numbers are to be allowed in profiles, I suggest they only be allowed in verified profiles. |
